I don't follow skiers so I don't know these people but even so I couldn't help it when my eyes welled up with tears when reading about their deaths. I guess if you're going to die it's good to do it with something you love doing. These guys had nerves of steel.

This is a thrill that I will never forget. My Cousin Gary and I went to an amusement park named Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio to ride on the tallest roller coaster in the world at the time. We were only teenagers seeking a thrill.
We waited in line for a very long time to get a seat. We got the best one…in the front seat of the roller.
A careless park attendant was unable to lock the roll bar into position for us.
As Gary and I proceeded up the steep incline to the top, we panicked trying to lock the roll bar. We kept trying to slam it into position. We didn’t succeed until we arrived at the top.
A good thing we did…the ride down picked us off of our seats.
Gary had a pair of sunglasses in his shirt pocket. They flew from the pocket on the way down, never to be seen again. We almost lost our lives on that ride. Needless to say, we didn’t go for a second ride.

I understand Jeepers. I had a tow lift truck roll over in 2006 that caused the my putula tendon to be separated from my left knee. I was in the Hospital recently for a blood clot in the same leg.

Jeeepers: Dangerous as hell, a total rush from the time I set foot on the rig until the shift was over.
We all learned how dangerous it is last spring with the BP oil spill when 11 men died off that rig. I had a friend in Texas who at one time did the dirty work on the rig. He changed jobs for the same company and now works in the trailer on the computer watching what's going on with the rig. When emergencies happen he still goes out to the rig.
If anybody wants to see a good movie.....a true story....about oil rigs and how oil was found, watch the movie "There Will Be Blood". It's a fascinating movie.

Hi John..
That's crazy the way that guy slammed his feet into the poll on the way down. If he did that over and over every single day I have no doubt he would end up with plantar fasicitis or broken feet. Hopefully that was just for effect in the show.------ This thread is Archived ------
