Well I'm happy to say that my little dog is home safe and sound after his surgery today.

He's a lil champ, came running out of the clinic to meet me, just gobbled up two plates of food, and is now lying on the lounge next to me as usual purple heart

serene56: Seems the population is getting older on here

Wasn't that long ago that we had those pesky little 35-40 yr olds running amok on here, acting like it's a dating site or something

Just think, we'll be able to get our prescriptions filled together, we could think about zimmer frame-pooling!

We can swap home-remedies for treating the ol' rheumatism and those embarrassing problems that we don't like to mention .. you know the ones

So cheer up, it's not all bad, our days of getting a bit might be over but ..

Just think, we have that $2.50 pensioner excursion ticket to look forward too oh the joy! ouch
doh help

Thats great serene, what was wrong with him? My dog Josh has a very badly injured back leg, silly fool is so active he keeps hurting the same leg over and over again. He is far to active to even consider having surgery on it.

He had a perineal hernia, it was operated on two years ago but relapsed just recently. The hernia virtually closes the poo passage so he has a lot of pain and cries trying to go to the toilet.

The vet ordered in some special mesh and has sutured it to the entire wall so hopefully this will last for many years.

Really don't want to put him through this again, especially as he gets older.

What happened to Josh's back leg Faithe?

Yeah it's pitiful to see, poor little guy.

At least I knew the signs this time, and took him straight to the vet.

Last time he suffered for weeks, this vet was the third one I took him to and the only one who recognised the problem.

He's my hero purple heart

Josh is so active, runs around non stop playing and he turns too sharp going to fast and he keeps injuring his hock joint. He only knows two speeds go and stop. The whole joint is grating and swollen this time. He may have dont to much damage this time for it to recover... sigh
