biggles90000: In my records at home The Royal Tank Regiment 3rd battalion served in Ireland in 1920. so did the 5th armoured Car Companies the remainder were sent to India and the Middle East.

thumbs up I'd find it hard to believe there were no armoured cars roaming about the country, we were at war of course. Actually wasnt there a story during the war of independance where the IRA stole a Whippet armoured car and tried to spring someone from Mountjoy? I think that was shortly before the truce! Take some balls to do that!! laugh

I think the first ever army to invent guerilla warefar were the boer in the boer war 1899-1902 the British Army had to change tatics hence the reason why they got rid of there famous redcoats because boer snipers kept picking them off.

A friend of mine got some work labouring on an old estate in the uk back in the 80s. Itwas owned by a retired army general. My pal was from northern ireland and the two of em had some great discussions about thr troubles.

The aul lad said that the only difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist was whether you were fighting alongside em or against em!

Yes indeed. When I use the word terrorist I am referring to the tactics and actions, not the political and emotional meaning often heaped on the word. The rights and wrongs of terrorism are certainly subjective. One interesting thing I have noticed is that the Founding Fathers in the United States who were reagarded as saintly until recently are now being painted in the negative terrorist light by Washington who sees their resistance to tyranny as a bad influence. That says more about the sort of government in the US than it does about terrorism or the Founding Fathers. Am I going off topic? Well seven pages it's about time someone hijacked this thread and crashed it into a building. Ha ha

right lads im of to the bed nite all.

yea but the only reason the t-34 was so great was cause the angled the armour which is still something they do today so minamalised the damaged cause could not get a direct hit was always directed off no matter the strike something the usa hated cause they gave them the tank to start with and didnt think of it but dont get me started on the ussr against the usa military skill ussr always wins goodnight man wave
