bodleing: Also it was particularly shocking for myself compared to those around me as I had just returned from New York. In fact just a few days earlier I was on the Staten Island ferry taking pics of the twin towers.
Then you know how horrible it was for Americans...words cannot describe the emotions...fear, sorrow, a day none of us will ever forget.....
jvaski: I still remember that STUPID look on Bush's face as he was told what happened in the kid's classroom. The event served to falsely glorify him as our protector .....
It's "funny" what remember. I recall people sitting on the window ledges waiting for help and trying to avoid the flames. When help didn't come, I remember them jumping to their deaths...
I'm not sure if that's the difference between a Republican and a Democrat, or not? Care to let us know?
I was over in the Islands! One of the rare Mornings I could sleep in! My TV was on,so when I woke up,I thought I was having a Nightmare! Then I thought that probably some Idiot was repeating Orson Welles Stunt, but when I heard the Guys talking outside,I knew the Nightmare was real! It still angers me deeply!
jvaski: I am truly sorry you're not pleased with my remarks .....but..... maybe you'll get over it Leigh .....
Not hardly...don't forget, you made me your target once...and in the most disrespectful way imaginable...That is when I really understood what you are all about JV...I'm done with you....
This is a very special thread and timely because it gives us a chance to express our own feelings about that dreadful day that didn't just happen in NY it ripple effected the whole world for many reasons.
I think it would be good for everyone to get back on track here and respect the OP.
I had just put my son on the bus for kindergarten. I was talking outside to my parents and we went in for coffee and saw the news.. I can remember crying and be scared and just silence.. and the silence from the skies for days after when no planes could fly.............
I have spent *so* much time in the States over the years. Lots of family and friends live over there. I've also spent most of my adult like in a border city. Niagara Falls NY was my playground when in High School.
Someone called us that day after the first plane hit the towers. They said "a plane hit the New York world trade center"
Of course, *my* first thought was a *light* plane... that poor pilot... I hoped there wasn't anyone down below on the sidewalk when the plane fell.
I couldn't move from the TV for days. disbelief, shock, hurt, sympathy, anger.

For you Bod..
Indeed.
I had just spent four months working at a summer camp in Connecticut. Most of the kids and staff there were from New York City, many of them from Manhatten, a very sad time for sure.
On the West Coast it was about 6 a.m. when I woke to the news. When I realized what was happening I ran to my daughters room and made her watch it with me, maybe out of fear or knowledge I don't know why. We watched the second plane hit. I dropped her off at school and I went to work, we had a moment of silence at work for those that were lost and at that moment I knew America would never be the same.
