A story relayed to me is that they are readily available - the Thai girls - to anyone willing to 'keep' them for their time there - ie. food, accommodation etc. Living in Thailand, is so much cheaper than here so keeping them is quite cheap really.

But the 'couples' were very very common and were always with middle aged caucasian men.

Toffeapple: Saw this for myself just having returned from 2 weeks in Thailand - fortunately my boyfriend explained it all to innocent old me. Saw many many Caucasian men with lovely Thai girls rented for their stay there to keep them company and 'love' them. Sad really. I understand it, but don't like it. But also understand it is good income for the ladies, which is kind of sad too....
Bumped into a friend the other day in Big Wedgie with his Philipino friend, I thought they were a couple but no, too old for him as in same age. He had just come back from a $700 holiday to the Philipines where he was introduced to her 22yo and 25yo nieces. I'm thinking, hey, you're over 40yo and going to be marrying a 20yo girl?confused

This is culture for you and it is very true...

40 year old Malay/chinese male buys a 18 year Viet Virgin - still married 3 years later with 2 children - and its all very legal and above board....

i don't think a 20yo Aust. girl would consider going out with a 40yo+ dude, but why would you even want to put yourself into that position? ie: nagging 1/2 teenie bopper with girlie little chuckles and imature emotions and feelings not knowing anything about the real world and dirty ol' men

Not our culture daggy - I knew I had doubts marrying a man that was 12 years my senior - he was similar age to my parents - who the blazes wants to marry their parents...???? Not me!!!
