No matter what problems that are going on in the world there is one thing you can bank on and that is Gold. Its so reliable...... the worse things get the more it rises to the top.

There are so many sharks out there trying to buy scrap gold.

If like me over the years you build up broken and unwanted gold Jewelry and it gets forgotten about About 12months ago I purchased some gram scales to weigh it and was very pleased with how much I had accumulated over the years.

Since then every month or so I check the scrap gold price and every day in the paper...it rarely disappoints me.

Online I always use a gold firm in Melbourne to check the prices for scrap gold.

Its W Davis and Son they are the benchmark cant find any better in Aus .

So ladies search around for any old gold Jewelry as they are paying.

over $20 per gram for 9 k gold.
$31 .... ...... .......14 .. .....
$40 .... ..... .......18... .....
And so on its very detailed and easy to find on their site.It is good to search around and see what you can find.

I agree curly thumbs up

I'm a silver/white gold girl too, always have been and I prefer one statement piece or some interesting bangles rather than the gold chain thing.

Gold Weight: 1 gram (equals 0.64 DWT, also known as pennyweight)
Purity: 9k
Gold Price: $1873.80 / troy ounce
Answer:

Total gold value is $22.59.

This doesn't mean you should expect to receive $22.59 from a buyer. This amount represents the current melt value using the live gold price.

Sep 9, 2011 Gold Gram Prices
24K (pure, .999+) $60.24/gram
18 Karat $45.18/gram
14 Karat $35.14/gram
Basis: $1873.80 /Troy Ounce

yeah Martia long time ago i asked a bullion dealer in Adelaide about buying and selling scrap gold rings etc.

They explained what sort of price to pay and how much they charged to melt it down into nugget, at the time think was $160 a kg. Also how much they charged to sort and value any rocks.

Over the last 45yrs or so collected a bit of gold jewelry..... thats all I can wear because of an allergy.
Its quite suprising what you can build up over the years as gold was not all that expensive then.
Crikey..... I am not talking about a lot of gold.

Not used to owning stuff that keeps going up,and with my scales its fun recalculating the scrap gold price per gram.

mine was melted because stones were missing, or they didn't fit - but its not cheap getting them melted down - I could of bought another ring from proud's 50% off special... chose nugget because I couldn't think what style to have...moping
