Ok, finally got this one! The four pieces weigh: 1, 3, 9 and 27 kg.
For example if you wanted to weigh a 2kg cabbage you'd put the 3kg weight on the left hand side of the balance and the 2kg cabbage plus the 1kg weight on the other side. Similarly, you can use combinations of between one and four weights on the LHS, with combainations of zero to 3 of the remaining weights on the other side to balance out 40 different weights (1-40kg, integer values only).

let the current age be x

2(x+2)+3(x+3)=6x
2x+4+3x+9=6x
5x+13=6x
13=6x-5x
13=x

so after two years it is 15 years

If there are 19 interstate CS's comming to melbourne on Sat. night and 11 Victorian CS's saying they will go however only 35 turn up, how many CS's from Victoria do we put into the shame file for being no showers?

Ok let me get this right.
There is no mention of who turned up. Given the uncertainity of the question, we can have many answers, provided this is a serious question
1. If the extra 5 are from interstate and those turned up from vic are those who promised no one!
2. If the extra are from vic, we should remove someone from the list.

The extras can be be a mixture of interstate and vic and I loved permutations and combinations in my school.

So which answer you need?

Yes l can say your wrong...lol. The answer is cousin, all the the other family members are a gender ie: Father is a male and so on but cousin is not a gender.

OK here comes the question.

There are 10 machines that make bullets. Every machine makes bullets weighing 10 grams, except one. The faulty machine makes bullets weighing either 9g or 11g,but we do not know whether it is actually making 9g bullets or 11g bullets. You have a weighing machine ( let it be an electronic weighing machine this time for accuracy, but you may use a traditional one too). You can take any number of bullets from any of the machines, but you can weigh the bullets only once.( yes, only one single time). You have to tell which one is the faulty machine..

Ok only had one cup of coffee so far but here goes Take one bullet from each machine and line them up in order by machine number and then add one bullet at a time to the scales. The weight should go up by 10 grams everytime until you hit the 9 or 11 gram bullet. So for example say the fourth bullet has been added and the weight is 40 grams but then the next bullet brings the weight up to either 49 or 51 grams the faulty machine would be machine number 5.
