This is the Internet, we live in a global world, everyone is a day's flight away at most, why limit people who can contact you by region??

Women tend to get bombarded with mail and flowers from all over so maybe like many, she has chosen to limit this.
And realistically, people who are a day's flight away are probably not potential date material to most people on here
Cyberpals are great but I know I prefer to just have just a couple if it's unlikely I'm ever going to meet them

ye to be honest there really is no point in potential dates if your realistically never gona see them. id happily talk to people from anywhere and do but if i was to start dating then it would probably have to be someone in my region or outskirts of it but you never know i could end up in some weird situations yet lol :)

Long-distance relationships are crap. You can message, chat, call, video-chat with someone for months and still not know the first thing about them. You'll never really know if there is chemistry between you and another person until you physically meet. Forget beer goggles, the Internet will make a typing chihuahua look like Miss Universe in your mind.

I feel that long distance never works. Been there/done that. There are lies, broken promises and heartache that always goes along with it. I limit myself to men close to home - and it is posted on my profile. However, I never get anyone close to home (rarely) who is real and it is always men from a zillion miles away or scammers overseas. I did not put that as not accepting mail, etc, as I still read them and see what goes, but as for long distance - in my eyes, it is not a doable thing. I have had many men promise they would come meet me with "distance is not a problem if you are really in love" etc, etc; but it just never happens. There are always excuses and I put it out there right away that I am not at liberty to travel at this point in my life...so why bother?

CS gives us an option to put boundaries down based on our wants and needs. Some of us know exactly what they're looking for and so they're open for what they want and don't bother with what they don't want.

Living in a "global world" as you say bears no relevence whatsoever in the choice of age range either men or women state on their profiles.
As for the geographical restrictions people place, there are many reasons, the main one in my opinion being that there is no interest in a long distance relationship.

I met a gentleman on another site who lives in Denmark. We have hit it off on many levels. Just so happened he has family only 15 minutes from me and that he is coming here in December, staying for an entire month. We are both very excited to get to spend time together and go away for a few days. If we really hit it off then he wants to fly me to Denmark for my birthday in February and hopes I would stay at least 6 weeks. If that goes well then the next visit will be planned. If love happens then its a new conversation for us.
