(We put our Rotty Down in May.. he had the biggest bone cancer in his mouth.... I still look for him.. silly isn't it... )
no its not silly, you give them a lot of time and love and they appreciate it,and you have aloyalty that can never be beaten. You never forget the companionship they gave.

I had my Kelly for nearly 14 years, she was with me from 6 weeks old. She was my constant companion, the day l lost that dog l felt like my right arm had been cut off. Its been 2 years since l lost her but still miss her terribly, she was my best friend. She was a wonderfull loyal dog.
I lost a dog called Cassie to bone cancer Merri, its a very cruel form of cancer and usually very aggressive in its growth. Within 3 months of discovering it l had to put her down it had spread all though her jaw, skull and all 4 legs and the vet suspected her spine alsosigh

I will share this Pebbs..

On the morning of the appointment with the vet... we all ( my kids, their wives, in laws, cousins, all met at his favourite rocky beach... it was 8am and coolish, but the dogs were all happy to meet up.. My youngest son has a couple of pooches, and the cousin brought her pup along... The dogs all swam together, and the sea water helped the pus that was pouring outta of Harleys mouth a little. Then, when it was time, everyone, dogs too... said their goodbyes, and with lots of sad faces and tears, we drove for 40 mins into the hills where his vets were...
There were two vets in attendance... so
first shot, we were still able to have him outside with us... 10 mns later another one, then another, and another ... all in small doses, so that he would not feel hurt from the arrest...and he just slipped peacefully by... (and now I am crying as I type..)

He knew what was happening by the 2 shot, It was the saddest moment ever.. but the vets had known him since he was 6 weeks old, and now at 10, they loved him as much as we did... so they did the best they could with all the compassion they could..

Will never replace such a nice temperament dog who suffered anxiety separation, who thought of himself as a solid and contributing family member, bless him...

The dog is 12years old and happy and if the lump isnt bothering her ld leave her alone and just let her live her days out. Twelve years old is a very good age for a Maremma.

Funny that my daughter had this cat and it ended up with me when she left home then when my marriage was over had to pack up on the farm and move back to the suburbs 8 years ago so gave the cat back to my daughter. The cat was 13 then and being a bush cat was best to stay there with my daughter, anyhow the cat harley her name has just passed away at the grand old age of 21 she lived on 100 acres lucky cat.
