In Mexico we do celebrate life with the "Day of the Death" event on November 1st and 2nd.

Here some pictures for you I hope you will like them.

My pleasure tip hat

"Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in many cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died.

It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it attains the quality of a National Holiday. The celebration takes place on November 1–2, in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2).

Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts....."

It is a very lovely tradition.

I do remember my parents house's altar and the food, aroma,...

On November the 1st. it is the day for the angels (death children) and I remember my grandma setting a walk with marigold's petals for the children souls to find out altar, just beautiful and great food as well....

It is a ceremony to celebrate life honoring the death.

Thanks to you!

teddybear

I will take more pictures tomorrow and I will make you all bored with them.

Far from being bored...

My parents are both deceased, and there are three siblings... myself (oldest), my sister and my brother (youngest).

My sister lives about 5 minutes away from the cemetery where our parents are buried, and my brother and I live about a half hour away.

I stopped there to pay respects a couple of times this year, but had not done so in the past 10 years or more. I think I will suggest to both siblings that we join your custom, and every November 1st we go there, clean up their site and put marigolds there. I think it would be nice. (and easy to remember as it's right after halloween)

I will finish reading the wikipedia information tomorrow and will be meeting my sister around 9am and let her know.

Thank You bouquet and enjoy your holiday

My parents "sleep" far away from where I am now but I would like to go to a cemetery to take some pictures of the tombs with all those flowers and things that people bring to their dead people.

There is a state (Michoacán) that people make such a party for tomorrow day one of the best places to enjoy this celebration.
Too bad I have never been to it. They place not only flowers but also food and play music for their dead people and they stay overnight at the cemetery.

A picture from the net.

galrads: condalisa rice.... (especially if she brings her piano along)

Wait! I do not need an aswer from someone who can not even spell Condoleezza Rice!

For people, cities, .....names you have to use Capital Letters for the first letter as well.

guess I need to replace my spell checker. moping Sometimes I'm too lazy to use the shift key for capitals.

Doctor Condoleezza Rice is an awesome woman. she is not only one of the most intelligent and beautiful women I know but she is also artistically talented. only time I recall ever seeing her nervous was when she visited gaddafi (sp?). that freak had a thing for her. she was briefed of his shrine for her before she left the usa for libya.

to bad about this answer..... tongue
