What is your idea of the "perfect" first date??

And be realistic here...i'm reading profiles that include "fresh fruit and wine by the sea"...in Ontario???...in October????wow

A roaring fire with candlelit gourmet dinner....Really???..seems more like a "mood" setting evening to me...dunno

If you are really going to meet the person "face to face" for the first time...what would you like the "first date" to be like???

Hi Ursilla,

I have done this on more than one occasion recently - and it is my perfect first date. I really enjoy meeting a man at a very nice restaurant and enjoy sharing a beautiful meal and wonderful conversation with him. Oh course (for those who wonder) he pays the bill and does not expect a kiss at the end of the evening.

Cheers,

Lorraine.

Of course this is wishful thinking...

For me, i like to do something fun. A first date to me is the chance to see if there is opportunity for a second date.

Mini golf, go carts...something like that is what i have done....if the girl has ideas of what is fun to her that is cool too. I am open, but the first meeting is gotta be doing something fun.

The fun activity is like an ice breaker and gives me and the new woman a chance to relax so things are not so up tight.

After a fun activity we would go for a coffee or drink, to talk and get to know each other.

I cant stand pressure so i stay away from a formal date for the first one,.... this is the case always for me.

Once i know i want to meet again, i prefer to save the romantic dinner for the second or third date.

I think that's what i probably meant Puck...I don't like the "pressure" of a first date, so i prefer to do something that is "just me"..which is the atmosphere of a "fair"...all that energy and laughing...and bright (shiney) lights...tee hee...awesome!!

I too think that i would save the "romantic" dinner type of thing for the second or third date...by that time i'm more "comfortable" in his company...wine

Greetings to All,

If Chuck was taller and didn't live so far away - I would ask him out on a date!!! I have never asked a man out on a first day in my life!

Regards,

Lorraine.

A perfect first date?

Nothing "contrived" ( wine on the shore with crashing waves; gournet dinner roll eyes )

Prefer more casual activities - playing pool, going to an antique car show, going somewhere really busy for coffee.

Takes the pressure off IMO.....dinner and a movie is cliche

Keep it light and breezy

peace

For me the first date would be somewhere where you can focus on one another and get to know one another. Like picnic at a park (of course weather permitting) with some rollerblading or kite flying etc..Something active where you can both have fun and good laughs.

I like to bowl. I think its fun to go bowling and then have dinner somewhere. Again something fun for both parties involved.

The last first date I had was 5 years ago. I rented several movies, laid out gourmet cheeses, fruit and wine. We chatted, decided on which movie to watch and for how long before intermission, then chatted, sipped, and on went the evening. Paws

I'm having trouble getting past the first email!!!

But a perfect 1st date for me would be one in the afternoon.. say a walk in the park which can be done in any season..(except in really rainy weather). Then if the meeting goes well you can still have time for a dinner where you can continue getting to know one another...

Hi Christine,

Thanks for posting your response. Honestly - I would have trouble going for "a walk in the park" with a man who had not either "wined me and dined me" nor bought me "a brew with lunch".

Isn't it fun to "be a Woman"!!!

Kind Regards,

Lorraine.

Lorraine,
well I don't like men to spend their money on me before I know if I like them or not, so by having a walk in the park no one has to put out any money, I don't drink alcohol.. so the wining or buying me a brew would not work! I am very independant and pay my own way.... so yes it is fun being a woman we can make our own choices, and my choices are not necessarily your choices!!

Definetly something fun, light. Like taking a walk up Mount Royal. Or going to a museum. Or a walk along the marshes. Sit in the park, and talk a bit.

I agree wikked, any guy who talks like that, is not a true romantic. Those things are meant for an established relationship. Not first dates.

Hi Christine...I agree with you not liking men to spend too much money before i get to know them...makes me feel kind of "obligated", but hey that is "my" issue, because certainly a "gentleman" would not expect to be "repaid" in any fashion for taking me out for the evening...

And in defense of Lorraine's answer...if they did end up spending money on your dinner and entertainment for the evening...well the woman isn't the only one "taking a chance" on that evening...dunno

Thanks Lorraine....

Just an observation here...isn't it odd that the majority of women seem to have a preconcieved notion that if a man spends big bucks on their "evening"...that somehow we are "obligated"???

Is it just us that feels that way...or has our experience with men taught us to think that way?...Is there a unwritten rule somewhere for this??confused

A sleigh ride or hay ride.... With lots of blankets.

I just gota say Wikked...

You or any other woman has met your 'obligation' just by letting him breath the same air you are and allowing him the pleasure of your company.

If he expects anything else he's not worth your time.
