wash2u: Holy Crap Batman, the low lowing ground for "useless recreational sports" is underwater. We need to work very strongly in changing this. Let's change the rules so that golf courses are built on high ground and the low lifes build their houses in the low ground.

It was amazing - It rained all night - stopped just long enough for me to get my round in - then started raining again...

head banger

Now for my round tomorrow, I hope it does the same thing...

Arkayos: Maybe I should see if I can borrow a tinnie - instead of a golf cart...

Wasting ya time putting your gear in a shipping container, they float really well down this creek.

Actually a cross over from the laura dekker thread - Shipping containers are a serious hazzard at sea. More than one sail boat has gone down after hitting a shipping container... Depending on what they are loaded with, they can float just at or just below the surface. You can't see them at night, and if they are low enough, you don't see them durring the day... deadly... hit them at full steam and you end up with a bloody great hole in your hull...

And on another departure... The discovery of the world sea currents, and how they are connected, was due to a container of rubber ducks being lost over the side during a storm. The rubber ducks got out, and were found all over the world over the next two years.

Shipping containers are a very real hazard, 2 of my brothers have worked as professional fisherman in Bass Strait. Both of them have been in vessels that have hit containers. One limped in to port with bilge pumps just keeping up, the other brother, on his fist skippering of a vessel wasnt able to get in the estuary and sank. Thankfully in shallow water and he and the crew were picked up safely.

Bass Strait is hazardous enuff without added extras...

There is nothing like watching your boat sink, while you are at sea...

It is much like jumping out of a plane, and seeing your parachute not open... You know you are dead, but you are just hoping for the miracle...

he was lucky, they had time for a mayday, and were close to home. They were picked up before the boat floundered completely. Ended up sinking only 10 minutes from the entrance from the Estuary and they were able to recover the vessel on low tide with pumps. But because this was my brother's first skippering even though it wasnt his fault, because of the state of the industry he wasnt able to gain another vessel to work, but thankfully he is alive

Others havent been so lucky

Fun round today - We were just teeeing of on the 15th hole (the furthest from the club house) when they sounded the evacuation alarm.

We walked back in and got to the club house just as the heavens opened, and it bucketed down. Twenty minutes later and the course was flooded...

It's gonna be a wet summer here too apparently with temps barely over 20 degrees leading up to Christmas.

It is nice and warm today, but boy was that a storm...

The same weather patern as last year has formed again...

It would be heart breaking to go through the same flooding as last year...

Take up golf Prowler - I figure one round at my club is a 7km walk, and it is up and down hills, with a 40kg bag of clubs (on a two wheel trolley.) Today I finished the round nearly 2Kgs lighter than when I started. Though, I am fixing that with beer...

Lol... I Also play darts a few nights a week... All that walking back and forth to the board... grin (and my right arm and shoulder are noticably larger than my left - I put it down to darts...)

Although I do tend to drink beer while I play... (which may also explain why my right arm and shoulder are larger...grin )

Two years ago when I moved here I was just about 90kg and I walked 15 km everyday ... 7km in the morn and 8km in the evening ...

then I started working 12hr shifts (14hr days) just sitting behind the steering wheel of a bus all day, eating junk food at nearly every meal time, and near no eXercise at all ...

two years of this type of neglect is now visibile around my Girth I mean waste ...

I Hate it ... so walking, walking and more walking along with some light weight workouts and again eating decent food with my current lifestyle change has me feeling betterer all ready ...

It hurts like hell to get going again and believe me I am hurting, though I'll tell you honestly it HurTs even more not being able to wear my everyday clothes ...

Just start walking 20 min a day mate ... thats all just 20 min and after a week I promise you will feel so much the betterer for it ... applause
