Thanks pepples,

Its finding the gold no worries, (it finds everything, information overload) tis knowing that it has gold that is the problem.
The old Fisher model settings from your book, has the detector quietly humming and comes up with tiny blip over the grams, might be as good as any, I've stored those settings as program 2 (can store 2 sets of settings). Think that setting is only reporting non-ferrous metal and nothing else for gold is likely good...

But thank you I'll look Ian up

i dont mind when it picks up all the non ferrouis types,as ive never really found any junk that is non ferrous,i keep all coins and belt buckles and even the bullet cartridges, some of vthem date bac to early 1900s,one funny thing i found years ago ,was in two ft of clay, the machine went haywire ,really clean sound, and when dug itup after about 10 mins of digging,it was a copper still used for making wisky,it was all green but i cleaned it up, it weighed a few kilos

Faithe: In the cheaper brands of Dry dog food thier is a chemical used to preserve the dog food that is also used to help preserve rubber. My dogs only have dry food that presereved with natural additives like vitamin E.

It's good to know this stuff when chooing products. Best way to tell them we don't like the crap they are using is with out wallets.

Took detector back to Thomas Ck off Shady creek rd this morning same place i searched old diggings a while ago, detector sounded a double blip twice so i dug to check that was ferrous, indeed both were, first a bit of old tin and second bit of reo, so was pleased i had read the sound ok. Didn't locate anything else but felt happy.
A Still, what an interesting find, didn't have any booze in it did it?

enjoy your day mate

no haha but it was about 2ft long and a rocket shape, made in pennsylvania usa,so it must have been a prospetors and he brought vit over here from the states and made his own grog on the gold fields ,but i think it was in an old house originally because there wqas a lot of old planks of wood around and the remains of an old chimney.jericho is an interesting place, but you need to camp there and spend a lot of time digging.

Certainly a still is an interesting find.
Was reading about the Fisher development dud who at age 11 found a 1856 Flying Eagle, later without telling his parents sold it for US$700,00. Thomas J Dankowski his hobby is NASA Kennedy Space Center who develops launching shuttles whose main love in life for the past 30 years is detecting. Works with Fisher Research Laboratory R&D department including in future concepts who knows finding mineral deposits and metals on Mars might be space programs future...the giggly gog i droped in this thread earlier dud...

probably why your detector is so complicated lol,he,s added so much technology into it, that only he,ll be able to find nuggetts haha.saw a bloke on a dvd the other day using hisminelab along the edges of a pebbly creekto detect gold, and when he got a sound ,he panned for it,lot of work that though, ive tried it,got a few pieces in the big river near enochs point, but nothing to write home about.

The problem i was having was comprehending nature of all the information being produced in milliseconds and throwing up in both sound as well as flashed on screen, by ever increasing number of cone shaped scans of all ferrous and non-ferrous + derivations there of, which is found by the constantly moving coil overlapping scan after scan...in mind boggling detail delivered in factions of a second...

The settings i now have has the machine producing just couple of sounds other than constant hum, with very little being displayed on-screen. And that's a relief while attempt to learn what its telling me. Which is something Dankowski mentioned within the pages and pages of info i have read of his, recently I printed out 48 double sided pages of his thoughts and read most.

I tried the edges of creek yesterday to, thinking to go into the upper reaches of Haunted Stream today, maybe manage later this morning

enjoy your day pebbles

PS
I haven't notched or blocked out anything, much relieved it is now sounding on all non-ferrous and ferrous after having been grounded properly by pumping the reel up and down, so the computer knows the nature of the ground your hunting in.
The coil has two separate circuits sounding all other non-ferrous and ferrous metals and parts there of, and another computer chip analyzes those two chips findings and then churns out the probable nature of the items detected

My last b/f had two metal detectors, an older one and a computerized one. He sold the computerized one because it didnt do the same depths that the old one could. We went to a dogshow at Colac once and while l was showing he went and detected the local parks, he came back with about $100 thumbs up
