As for not having individual choice, try voting next time with the knowledge that there is not always referendums on government decisions but rather you vote for who represents you. It's the way our country works.

jono7: i always vote. and i always vote for who represents me..(well..who ever is closest that is..) and i was one of the 60% of folks that did not vote for harper.

Albertaghost: 40% is quite a mandate to tell the truth. A majority government which is not the norm so, he does have the majority according to a multi party system.
Wow. You mut be one of the top earners to be paying 40% in taxes so you probably don't mind paying 'your fair share' but if you don't feel things are going your way, run for office, become a constituent or just rant on a soapbox but, our country was founded on a representative system of democracy so unless you propose anarchy as an alternative, this is as good as it gets.
