Just sometimes the dust settles and you realise that you're in this lovely little space between life's seemingly neverending surprises/challenges/difficulties it tends to throw at you

Funnily enough I stopped drinking a couple of years back (just the odd glass now on rare social occasions) and I honestly think that was a good thing.
Even though I wasn't a huge drinker, it was a regular habit, and was a 'go to' when times got tough.
I'm doing much better without it, clarity prevails and people I don't need in my life have mostly gone by the wayside

I do it all the time.Then I don't feel so guilty about chilling out, kicking back, reading a good book instead of doing stuff I should be doing ...... calm before the storm
But it is great while it lasts

I think we appreciate these times even more so when we see and feel for people who are going through a really tough time
One of the women I work with has elderly parents who live several hours drive away, she visits them as often as she can even though she works full-time.
Her Dad fell and broke his hip a few weeks back and she's used all her leave to spend time with him and her Mum, dashing back to care for her dog who was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year.
Just as she returned from her last trip, her dog died and she's just devastated

Things have been a bit stressful over the past couple of years what with one thing and another .. sometimes you don't realise how much until the smoke clears
