Nature123: Where would You prefer to live

In the city.

Or

In the country

Ten minutes from work driving, I don’t care if its city or country I have worked in both, but I refuse to drive more than ten minutes to work each day, and I drive trucks all day,

At the moment I am semi rural as there are a few farms I have to drive passed to get to work, I just cant see the point in spending longer than ten minutes a day or $20 per week in fuel just to get to work?

Blizzard14u: I live 22.5 kms from the coast (boat ramps) 8kms from work I have to go there four days per week, but I had the house built to fit my living, did I mention its next to the kids school too! Not the one she had to move too but the one she was going too at the time I brought the land, I drive 8 too 9 hours a day when working, I don’t want to spend my free time driving for nothing unless its for something I want to do, I suppose it could be the time you go to work? I start at 6am no traffic, but at the 8km distance who cares?
I drive 56k each way, but if I was a driver the last thing Id wanna do is drive after knocking off.

I drive 75km each way through the countryside to work in the country. 45 mins is not long when it took me 25 mins to drive 10km before, and was to Springvale.

Good choice.yay yay yay yay yay

Good thing I drive in the early hours I get wellington road all to myself. 30 yrs ago it was a breeze, but not getting any younger.

a few weeks ago I traveled put along Wellington at 7am, all I could see was a constant nose to tail stream of traffic, came back along Wellington at about 5pm that night to the same stream of traffic in the opposite direction.

Both times I was soooo glad I was going in the direction I was!

It certainly is a lot easier living 5 minutes from work!

Hi Gem... you lucky thing..

I go to work just before 8am ... stop start for just over an hour, and I leave work anywhere from 5 -6 pm, so its another long hour or more of stop start, stop start... Jeez... frustrated

if it wasnt for a big fence it would only be a 10 minute walk for me, but to get around the big fence it ends up being about a 25 minute walk.

I prefer to jump on the scoot and be there in about 3 minutes, 5-7 if I get caught at the traffic lights grin I hate long commutes

honestly I would reckon Springvale Rd would be better to travel down than Wellington at the peak times, from Lysterfield Rd to Belgrave Rd was just solid bumper to bumper slow moving traffic, single lane and irritated drivers...
All I could think was gee I would be trying to find an alternative, but for some poor sods there just isnt a viable one

I chose to live close to where I work, I could have gone further away and it would have been cheaper.

But for me the time I gain makes up for that. When I was with the ex we used to commute from Carrum Downs to Lilydale each day, sometimes taking 1 1/2 hours, it was the pits

and traffics getting worse by the day. This is the appropiate thread, think we should all move to the country.
