Merriweather: Hi Cruiser...

Have been taking note that in this thread, most people say country...

now I am really worried... so if everyone who could, would, move to the country, it would really leave all the cities short...???

What is the attraction to the country...?

Few exciting shops, few exciting bars with bands, few jobs, lotsa flies and creepy crawlies.. I just dont get it... ?

Hi Merri, and the rest of ya,,,,
In answer Merri, peace and quiet, tranquility, less than 5 min. walk to the Mighty Murray, and all the shows and night life in Mildura 35 klms away, lower crime rate, have never locked or shut my doors in 7 yrs. and the best of all, no neighbours, and fresh air, can`t beat it..

Been through Red Cliffs a few times on my north and stopped to get fuel as it is cheaper than Mildura. Never realised it was right on the Murray.

And I'll be up that way again in July, as far as Hattah anyway. Then turning left about 10km north.

I prefer the country. Was out near Mt Worth in the Gippsland today assessing a job. Passed a girl walking about 1km from where I stopped. It was so quiet, I could here her talking on her mobile while she was walking. I was taking photos of the road pavement (is there going to be a Road Pavement Photo Comp?) but kept looking towards the hills. Great job when I can get out. Stretches from south of Mt Worth (have trouble spelling Strzlecki Ranges) to way up north beyong Walhalla as far as Matlock (yes, there is such a place).

Hi Wash, Give me a yell when, and we`ll catch up, you can stay here or whatever and I`ll show you around, its a top spot, sounds as though you`ll be in the Wemen- Annuello region, or somewhere near, everywhere you walk near there is all Mineral sand area,,,, anyway as I said the invitations warmly extended,,,,,

Just reread, approx. 10 k`s North of Hattah, means you`ll be somewhere in the Nowingi area, you may remember at one stage they wanted to set up a Toxic Waste Dump there, which we squashed thank goodness....

While camped on the Murray i was surprised to notice how Olive trees spread by birds had established themselves along its banks. Bloody weeds, like the Adelaide hills, thickets of them

If you seen the price of olives you wouldnt think they were weeds. Why is it everything considered weeds is so expensive? Like blackberries pay 4 or 5 dollars for a couple of dozen, the council bulldozed all mine.

You were a bit more direct than me merri laugh but I tend to think I would get bored very quickly.

I'm a bit like you, I can hop on a train and be in the city in 1hr 20, plus here I'm right on the coast, beaches lakes - best of both worlds probably.

I'd probably enjoy apartment living in the city somewhere down the track, imagine being able to walk to museums, art galleries, great cafes and restaurants, live bands at pubs ... daydream
