Fraya: You must be a very relaxed easy-going person. What if they smell or spit or leer at other men while you're trying to beguile them

Grab them by the proverbials and get their attention back....

As for the smelly ones there is not much you can do...it's a bit to soon to be offering them a hot shower...innocent

Such circumstances havent presented themselves as of yet, I make sure and get a good idea of their persona before actually meeting laugh

ohwiseone: Agree, good way to see if you can hold a conversation and have a laugh with each other without alcohol
It's a great character test. Some people can't open up without drink. They're not my type.

I'll make one exception. If she was deadly looking and game. 'Nuff said. I might just hang around by mutual agreement.

Maybe I've been lucky like that! laugh

Ah it's just me I guess....horses for courses. I don't do coffee meets and have not had too many bad nights out....

KNenagh: Depending on the person, it can be nice to just spend a day with someone but I think that's the exception for a first meet.

Ye first dates should be short, not more than 2/3 hours max!

Keeping your first date short will keep you both more of a mystery to each other. You'll be more compelled to want to go out again if you both feel like you have space to grow into a relationship and still more to learn about each other.

Ahhh.... see. That's putting an unreasonable then... what happens if she's the best thing since sliced break?? What happens if you're so into each other that you don't want to leave at 2/3 hours?

My examples above cover the less than favourable scenarios, but I don't dictate no bounds on what might happen if everything goes fantastically well.

I'd rather find out I don't like someone after one date than drag it out into 2 or 3. That's just a waste of time....

No I'll agree with the maddog on this one...if the date is going well don't put limits on it...go with the flow......

Perhaps not everyone will approach the situation the same way. From what you have said here you have an ability to enjoy and make the best of a social occasion. Some may enter into it with stricter criteria

For me a first meet is only there to see if there will be a second.

You either click with someone or not, there's no mystery for me in that.

Green_Sleeves: I think......

If you go to meet someone with the sole intention of simply meeting someone, no romantic aspirations in mind, not looking for love or hoping this person will be 'the one' will make for a lot more relaxing encounter, theyre no pressure and you can chill a little. No matter how much you've communicated via digital means and how much you think you may know that person, you dont really know them until youre standing face to face, so why go with crazy notions?

Thus, when you meet up, the least you'll be meeting as is two people who are getting to know each other, maybe become friends, if you click and there is a spark there then excellent!!

That is very true. I think another relevant fact relates to age. I date women who are of similar age to myself. In many cases they have children in their care. The arrangements for a coffee date of one hour are often just the same as for a night out..ie babysitter, travel, getting glammed up..Lol. It has been put to me more than once that they will not go to that bother for a coffee and want to make a proper night of it.....
