I think really a first chat/meet should be somewhere open, say coffee shop or walk in park, nothing to formal, it’s just be nice to get to know each other and then see how things happen!

Do you agree, or what you think would be a good first date?

An ear of mistery is better, first date should be more of a teaser, i mean does not need to last 7/8 hours, and you dont have to have spilled your whole life story out, keep it short!

A few pints, bit of music and at least a snog.... thumbs up

Coffee dates are very much on the dull side....roll eyes

First date for me would be a few drinks, relax the situation and then go from there...coffee shop just sounds far too boring to me conversing

My terminology in practice, in this internet lark is a bit different. The 1st face to face is invariably called a 'meet' (not a date) and the half dozen that I've done I've insisted on a coffee. For very very good reasons. But on the ones that progressed, the 1st 'date' was sure enough a few drinks and whatever then.

A dull date is better than no date laugh

Dull isnt a bad place to start I suppose, it might serve as motivation to liven it up for the next time

A first date should be fun and relaxed, the location doesn't matter

I agree, a first meeting, does mean a date! A first date then, might be a pub, or meal, something more!

I think i've only done one coffee 'meet'. I just wouldn't be interested in meeting anyone that does 'meets'...laugh

On the other hand I've had a few great nights out....probably an age thing. The women I would be meeting are strong enough and confident enough to meet in a public place for a few hours..grin

thumbs up First one aint a date, correct, its a 'meet up', just to make sure everything is in order, that she's legit, has a good set of teeth and fine child bearing hips.......if all this should be correct then a walk, bite to eat, go see an exhibit/something of interest and just have a laid back kinda' meeting, if all goes well, then maybe you'll get a second! thumbs up

Ah thats all very much to a formula. What about two people being mature enough to meet up for a night out happy enough that if there is no 'spark' that they can still spent a nice evening in adult company? dunno

It depends on how you view it I guess. If its a sussing situation you're going to decide if you want another date. Optimism and the nature of it will make the second date better. Theres logic in there somewhere. "The perfect date" opportunity is when you know you want another one grin

Agree, good way to see if you can hold a conversation and have a laugh with each other without alcohol wine

Maybe it is an 'age thing' dunno laugh The young wans are weary, they think all us young fellas are actually auld fellas, perverts, and/or rapists and want a formal first meet over lunch. They have so many scheduled on their books you see that they want to cross us off and move onto the next one laugh

Ah no, I've never done the 'coffee' 30mins/hour meet, all mine have lasted a number of hours, but it wasnt like a formal 'date', just a 'meet up' go do something fun kinda thing....

You must be a very relaxed easy-going person. What if they smell or spit or leer at other men while you're trying to beguile them

I call it a 'pre date' no expectations on either, just meet for an hour or two, I do like a drink tho but a very small one, followed by 7ups cause most of the time I do have to drive....

I know its good when I leave with a smile looking forward to the 'first'' real date'
