Likewise putting the lid of the toilet down before flushing, which necessitates the seat going down as well.

Beacause the seat is underneath the lid.
Whether the splash zone is laden with novovirus, or not, I don't really fancy the idea of excretia being sprayed around the bathroom where I keep my toothbrush, towel, tampons, etc.
Bathrooms are generally small places and I've never had one where a towel rail, a radiator (where its convenient to air a towel), or the toilet roll dispenser isn't next to the toilet. Admittedly, I could not leave towels and toiletries in the bathroom and clean the room every time the toilet was used, but I would have thought it was more logical to put the lid down.
Why are some men so resistent to basic and simple hygiene practices? Is it something to do with marking his territory like the dog?
