Relationships Changing Due to Social Networking Sites... (18)

Do you think the chances of people cheating or even having their head swayed slightly by the simplicity of private chatting on social networking sites has increased since before these sites were set up??

I know people will say "well they shouldn't be in a relationship if they can have their head swayed so easily...blah blah blah" but the reality is it's very easy to chat, see pics of them, find them funny through comments or statuses that they post etc.

I honestly think a lot of relationships have failed because of sites like these, most of it is a free for all of everyone's privacy, you have the drama queens that post that they're "single" after having a little fight with their other half and that's a cue for all the creeps to pounce...

Thoughts??

dunno

Yes i guess so because there is more places/sites for people to cheat nowadays but my thinking is why be in a relationship if your going to cheat, this is something that really bugs me, if its not working why not walk away or make it right again...

So does that mean, without these sites, people would still be happy and still in the relationships that they ruined?? or would it have only be a matter of time before they cheated??

Ah yeah we know all that, but human error is always gonna be there and people will make mistakes, there's a lot more temptation there with these sites though...do you think our mothers and fathers of grandparents that have been together years and years since they were practically kids would still be together and started families if they had these social networking sites at their disposal??

I don't think that relationships are changing through social networking sites.

If someone wants to cheat, they'll find a way, I do think something like CS does make it easier though.

Talking about myself, I'm either with someone or not, and if someone cheats on me, forget about him.

I wouldn't put up on a thread anything what currently goes on between 2 people, let it be going on a date, seeing someone etc.

in a relationship..if ur spending time u should be together ...with other people, then theres a problem..

no matter where u spend the time..net or pub.

social networking sites have made it easier..cos u dont even have to get dressed or buy a pint tho.

well...

how about this? you go on a "date" with someone you met on a site this...how can you guarantee that they arent still on here.. having the craic.. how many on here, guys or gals have more than one profile?

now? in my eyes chatting isnt cheating.. but plenty of chatting leads to meeting up.. and more?

Affairs/cheating don't happen in a vacuum. If a person is content with their partner, they would have no reason to seek company or comfort with another.

What social networking sites do is make communication easier. They give the potential cheater more avenues to find someone with whom they can cheat without actually having to go out and be seen surveying/hunting for a conquest. Arrangements can be made in advance over the medium of the internet and these arrangements are (privacy) protected by passwords etc.

Am I missing something here? It's a no brainer and doesn't even require asking. Of course every extra medium open to a cheater makes cheating easier. confused

That's true. I would expect anyone I had a date with to immediately disconnect their internet and give me that passwords to all their accounts so I could check they weren't having the craic... the nerve of them laugh

There's a bunch of people in sites that join up for a week cos they got mad with their boyfriend or whatever. Then the guilt sets in and then they vanish. You can tell by them when you talk to them.

Then there's whole other bunch of people that are up to no good... already married or whatever.

And then there's the lunatics...

laugh

If people in relationships use this site or others like it, they are probably looking for distraction or attention. If this didnt exist that desire will lead elsewhere.
