ZAKER: Boban! Cigarette smoking is injurious to Health.

Yeah, I know

once up on a time I had less than 70 kg and My late father,my mother and I ,after watching a TV debate about smoking, decided to quit ...
My father gave up on smoking after being a heavy smoker( 3-4 packs a day) for 50 years .and until he passed away,he didn`t go back to be a smoker

I ,in a short amount of time gained almost 30 KG .. so after not smoking for a year,I started again, hoping I will lose some weight... didn`t work ... grin

Over eating is also bad for the health!!!!!

To be honest, many things are bad for the health, smoking, drinking, a bad diet, too much fat, too much salt, the list is quite long, do you indulge in any of those.

What used to peeve me off was that when smoking it was easy for people to tut tut me for smoking because it is very visible, however if they drunk a few bottles of wine every night at home behind closed doors it wasn't visible.

I don`t know, since then, I never tried it again .Now we have three smokers in the house and when I calculate the costs of 3 packs a day x 30 days a month I come up with a sum of 100 euros ,the average salary here is some 250 euros a month

the brand i smoked went up to $11C for a pack of 20.
so i changed brands... :(
but it's still costing me almost $10/day. $300 C a month. yikes!

truth be told, most of the time i smoke without even noticing i am smoking...with the exception of a good cup of coffee and a cigarette. still very fond of that.
also when i am painting, standing back...deciding what to do next...that seems to be the cigarette i won't let go of.

but i had a stroke a few years ago..and very lucky there was no permanent damage. but i did lose my ability to walk and talk temporarily, and also had to learn to read and write again (will always be grateful to jeeepers for helping me with that).

so soon...yes soon....lol,
i'll be trying to quit again.
but not today... grin

Nicotine is one of the most difficult addictions to kick. I did it over 20 years ago, but STILL dream of smoking now and then. I admire anyone for trying to kick an addiction, and will not judge others for stumbling, as I stumble along with him/her with my many faults.

To the OP....The fact of the matter is, we all know that we should not smoke, not do drugs, reduce alcohol consumption, eat unhealthy, exercise more, work less, reduce stress, be kinder, etc....

Oddly enough, when we are less judgmental of others' foibles, our stress goes down and our kindness increases. Odd how that works. hug

Toughen up a bit more there boban1, if you really want to get fit take the cat for a walk! On a leash, as we do have leash laws here! Maybe not for cats as yet, but us Aussies are tough enough too walk the kids cat! That is also why I told the kid she cant have a budgie, they are bloody difficult to handle on a leash?

ZAKER: Boban! Cigarette smoking is injurious to Health.

Why is this thread aimed @ boban? There must be 1000's of smokers here. I don't think it's proper to give advice to 1 person in a public forum.

Just quit!!!!!!!! immediately. Not one puff more!!!! Don´t socialise too much then you won´t be so tempted. The craving won´t go away for years but when it comes on. ..you distract yourself by doing something else. Eventually you will be able to watch someone else smoking with no inclination to do so yourself. Took me 6 years before the cravings vanished completely.

Doesn't work for everybody... Heavy smoker for 45 years (3 packs a day),the craving lasted just over 2 months, never smoked again.Gained weight ever since (about 15 klg). This summer, mainly only salad diet, has been reduced to 12 klg,and within one more month,am hoping to get back to my original weight, between 82 and 85 klg... So stop smoking and reducing waight, you don't need an experts advice, only your own will power.-JMO
