I hate politics. My sister doesn't really like either one of them, but of necessity she's going with Romney, because she doesn't want another four years of Nobama, and she hates Nobamacare.
Romney did such a great job in many of his statements. Obama starred at his feet..... in defeat..... yeah I hope he would step down fronm office. Obama is nothing without a teleprompter.... I think Obama had the worst body language I ever seen. Obama always links to past history. We Americans want them to answer to the now.... See ya Bama....
intomiltech: Ok everyone has an opinion so lets here them
don't you wish . How long has Romney had that speech impediment .His maths simply do not stack up . Guess he's going to need another accountant as there is a deduction for costs involved in moving jobs offshore .
Can't work Romney's healthcare plans out as his seem to be Obama's template . I listened to it on podcast radio and could not see how they behaved , Bama was by far the better speaker .

Obama was off his game last night no doubt. Romney (notice I spelled his name correctly?) put on a good performance.
Beyond that I think the debate format was a mistake because it seemed to get out of control quite often. One thing I took away from the debate was it couldn't be more obvious that the tax code needs a MAJOR overhaul. This has been true for decades. Unfortunately, in this climate of political party polarisation in the country, I have no hope of that happening anytime soon. In fact, I think this is probably the worst time to tackle tax reform. I think it may be better to charge some big accounting firm to create a fair and balanced and simple tax code with no political ties to either party. Is it time for a flat tax?

Agreed. Flat tax or radically simplified tax. They should make it mandatory that both houses of Congress do their own taxes for a year. That would shake things up!
The next debate will favor Obama because it's a Town Hall format and there will surely be people coming in with pre-approved zingers for Romney. But overall, it shows that Obama is quite spoiled by only working with teleprompters and staged events where nobody DARES to talk back to him. Romney came prepared and he had all the facts and figures in his head. Obama looked pinched and sour when he could come up with retorts.

The Romney plan may have served as a template but there are many significant differences between the actual nuts and bolts of the plans. Romney, for example, did not exempt 162 BIG labor unions like Obamacare did (not to mention all the business Nancy Pelosi exempted from her district). Those things all feed into the bottom line when it comes to cost, not to mention the obvious question...WHY did they need to exempt them if Obamacare was so cheap and good for the country?
John Zogby: Mitt Won Big Thursday, 04 Oct 2012 06:59 AM By John Zogby
Mitt Romney won big tonight. President Obama got digs in on the former governor over the lack of detail of his proposals, but Romney clearly came out to play hard. The other big winner was the American people. This was a real debate with real differences, real clarity. Too bad voters have had to be assaulted by attack ads and hyper-emotion.
Romney displayed a mastery of the economy, of small business, of health care, of taxes -- of all issues. He was aggressive, something that was deemed risky beforehand, but he did not get personal or mean. He was respectful to the sitting President, but in no way awed by his presence.
While Obama took it to the GOP candidate (Where's the beef? Where are details on tax cuts, on health care?), Romney handled it deftly -- this debate was about principles and style. Romney reminded the President and voters that he was a bipartisan leader who sought and achieved consensus and legislation by working with the other side in Massachusetts.
Romney also showed his differences on Obamacare. This was a difficult task because this could have opened him up to charges of hypocrisy. He is a seasoned debater and this was the discussion on health care we should have had all along.
Obama scored a major point on pre-existing conditions. But Romney came right back to argue that no insurance company would deny service. We will have to see how that plays out but at least the discussion was held and it was civil.
Finally, I had said before the debate that Romney would have to show a command of the economy and put it in personal terms -- a tough task. He did that tonight. The President was uncomfortable, stammering at times. Romney won.

I think the tax code should be such that anybody should be able to complete their tax form by themselves without having to hire a tax prep firm or CPA and it should be on 1 piece of paper.
