Juneau: ....Yeah, probably.

I had a strange thing happen today. I mentioned that I had had no blackbirds in the garden throughout the entire Summer. Well today I was out there lopping bits off the leylandii hedge to neaten it up a bit, and when I came in there were SEVEN blackbirds sitting on top of the bit of hedge that I'd cut! Males and females! They seemed to be acting very teritorial and were squabbling amongst themselves... the only explanation is that their nesting area (they like to nest in the hedge) had had a "makeover" so they were vying for property! The same thing happened last year but with sparrows. They went crazy after my neighbour had cut the hedge for me. They seemed so excited and were in and out of the hedge for days afterwards! Weird huh! Hope the blackbirds aren't going to start nesting just yet!!! Waaaaaaay too

Strange that, I've seen quite a few Blackbirds over the last few days, they do migrate here from Scandinavia for winter though.

Yeah, that's true. The blackbirds were out there again today! Really strange that they have suddenly appeared like that. As the great thinker Spike Milligan once said "Everybody's Gotta' Be Somewhere!" laugh

Well, I have starlings, house sparrows and finches doing shifts on my feeders with the odd visit from a couple of wood pigeons.

Bull dogs investigate EVERYTHING!!! smitten laugh (so do boxer doggies!)

Glad that you've given your gull a name - they appreciate having a name - when I lived on the Isle of Skye, I used to feed a whole flock every evening, and I named a lot of those beasties, according to their characters. Used to feed them by hand (a precarious pastime, if ever there was one! Bleeding fingers were an occasional hazzard, as they swooped down at great speeds!) laugh Good fun though - was on a lot of tourist's holiday snaps!! doh laugh

You'd need one hell of a mousetrap and a small army platoon to set the spring. Cheese that size ain't that cheap either.

grin
