Also my fathers birthday and the day before my oldest brother Bobby joined the army. How different the world is today. Japan is an ally and a major trading partner. The old militarist government in Japan is long gone. My brother never did go to Japan but wound up jumping out of a plane behind enemy lines the night before the D Day invasion. He even brought a trophy female back with him named Ella from Dunfermline in Scotland who bore 4 daughters and 1 son. They stayed happily married until he died about 4 years ago. I sometimes wonder what was going through his mind that night. I'm sure he wasn't thinking about flags or parades or even Japan as he was inching toward that open door where he was going to jump out into the inky darkness and possibly his death. I never got the chance to ask him that question. I wish I had. Happy birthday dad you're gone but not forgotten. Bobby, here's to ya you were a great husband and father and you were my hero.

(just think, though, had obama been president at that time, he'd have ask Japan to forgive us for their attacking pearl harbor and killing all of our people there then. That would have been the end of it, and we'd never have entered any foreign war at that time.)
we should honor those who died at pearl harbor. also we should remain vigilent so it would never happen again especially with the threat of terrorists who pose a threat to our nation. we also honor our vets that fought in the second world war and give thanks to them for their service and loathed those who are disrespectful to our vets. they paid the price with their blood and lives to keep this nation free and this world free from tryanny. those who are disrespectful are ignorant and ungrateful.

One of these days, I fear, a terrorist entity is going to bring to and detonate a nuke in this country.
john12196341: or a chemical or boilogiccal weapon. lord help those people if they do it
I have a really bad feeling this kind of thing will occur in my lifetime, If I'm at ground zero I'd prefer the nuke. Compared to the chemical and biological weapon possibilities, the nuke would end it quickly.
john12196341: history has a way to repeat itself and it just might happen. if it does it will be alot worse
Pearl was the repeat as Japan had already sunk the Russian fleet in harbour and when Russian sent it's Baltic fleet to help , Japan nailed it as well . And if China keeps it's crap up claiming Japan's islands they might do it again .

The Russians had their revenge in Mongolia under Zhukov and later in Manchuria.

Jeez I dunno. That's a very gloomy outlook. I don't think the risks are that bad really?

Good thing George Bush wasn't president either . We would have ended up invading Mexico because they had tacos of mass indigeation .. .

Right... the "Evil" George Bush... scapegoat for all foolish liberal brain dead idiotic fools. Oh: he only got 40% of the Latino vote in 2004, Said that our economy could not function without the immigrants, Supported a humane guest-worker program that rejected amnesty, Reversed GOP’s support fo English-only education, Believed that Latinos enrich us; family values go past Rio Grande, In short, Bush pledged to revisit guest worker programs and other ways for immigrants to come into the country, but said he would insist on immigration controls and a waiting period before citizenship..... which others have followed... including all four of my (galrads) grandparents.
Yeah, the Evil George W. Bush..... he's responsible for everything since comrade obama's birth....

My sympathy for your loss Ooby but, let us not forget that the US dropped an atomic bomb on Japan, and after seeing the devestation, went and dropped a second bomb. Many fathers, brothers and sons died then. I mean no disrespect.
