oh yes, how horrible it would be to deny african americans the awesome POWER of voting! because voting decides so very much, after all

we must also guarantee the right of african americans to pray, cast spells and make wishes upon a star

RowdyBoy: Absolutely not!! That sounds like something Rachel Maddow or Wasserman-Schultz might claim!
I would bathe in Debbie Wasserman Schultz's sweat, come to think of it, so would Rachel Maddow from what I heard.

GUZMAN1: Oh, some say that only taxpayers should vote, because it's their money what is administrated.

Actually, even the homeless pay taxes when buy a bottle or a sandwich.

Everyone pays taxes in one form or another in modern society (well unless your an uber wealthy elite friend of G. Bush's apparently) Only two things are certain in life...death and taxes professor

They'd probably call it a tie in regards to the presidental election here in the USA.giggle I doubt if it would make that big a difference if voters went out to vote or not.

Sadly, Ive had the same thought. We teach our kids the importance of voting and having a political voice and in the end it may be a big lie very mad

I firmly believe that between election day and inauguration day if it is found that the loser actually got more of the national popular vote than the winner, then that person should be declared the winner of the election and be the next president. The peoples choice should never be trumped by politicians. I'm not sure if this has ever occured in fact.

I should have qualified my opinion by adding that none property owners should not be able to vote when it comes to issues that raise property taxes. I believe this because if you’re a property owner you actually have a vested stake in the community.

Sure, some rental properties have a portion of the property's real estate taxes passed through but no where are they as much as what property owners pay; especially property owners of detached single family homes.

My property taxes are a crime because I only receive benefits from 10% of what I pay in annual real estate taxes out of about $8,000.00 which I pay per year.

"as far as I'm concerned about voting rights, any individual who doesn't own property shouldn't be allowed to vote. That's the way it was and should be again, here."

I own 3 properties, should I be allowed to vote 3 times? My brother and my sister live and rent to me in 2 of my properties because their credit isn't good enough to buy their own houses despite the fact they pay rent to me on time every month. My credit sucks too, but I make alot of money. Oh, BTW, they are white, from Ohio, as am I, just in case you are wondering. Your comments are applicable for post civil war reconstruction. While the article may be misleading, the intent, echoed by your sentiment is the same.

I have no problem helping the aged, sick, handicapped or otherwise needy. I worked and saved to put a down payment on any of my homes and all four of my immigrant grandparents paid their own ways here and had a much different work ethic to "earn" what they owned instead of expecting others for hand-outs.

So, I suppose that they can do the same thing I did to "earn" what I have, which was to work my behind off working two sometimes three jobs alone to put myself through college and beyond! I didn't attend any type of public school either.
And I have no problem helping the aged, handicapped or otherwise needy.

Don't mean to sound mean, but I guess I can understand how others might see it so.

Where is the incentive for anyone else to study improve and exceed to prosper to discover or otherwise achieve anything when so much government entitlements hold people back like our older welfare system which president clinton shut down?

You are as mislead as your post. ALL citizens of this or anyother nation deserves his and her right to vote, unless you are in a communist nation who incidently have full voting rights. This most important right should not be infringed nor defined by what one owns or possesses. How many of the 300+million Americans own property aside from goverment, the wealthy or corporate entities. Should only they be allowed the right to vote? ALL Americans have and should be continue to have those rights preserved and all should stand against the mindless infringment on those greatests of rights, to do so would indeed fall under totalitarian concepts. Get a clue dude.

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing I don't want to live in a communist state. America is the land of the Free..... but that doesn't mean entitlements should exist... it means a right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, etc... Too many Americans today are sold on the idea perpetrated and coerced by president Obama that they have been victimized and deserve the government's hand-outs.

You sound really anxious to spread your money around, So, Dude, where do I send my real estate tax bills for you to pay !

All American citizens 18 and over have the RIGHT to vote. It is not an entitlement and doesn't require you to take a literacy test or be a land owner. Your outlook dates back to the 18th century. I find it hard to believe there are still people alive who think like you.

I'm glad we live in a republic and don't have to worry about some dinosaur like you who would want to vote on weather I have a right to speak. If you read my earlier post you'd see where I don't have problems with people voting on things other than voting to take my money when they won't have to give more (I.e., spread there money around too.)

Voting is not an antitlement, its the right of all citizens. Nothing in your above post is consistant with this fact. As for entitlements, many Americans lived under this premise for centuries, its only now you cry because your false sence of entitlement is no longer garranteed. What does voting rights have to do with Obama? Finally, you "dont want to live in a communist state" but you believe that only those who own property should have the right to vote. QUESTION? Are you stupid?
