montemonte: I would dare to say that the majority of world leaders have a colorful background.

Prime Minister Thatcher just died. Why is it necessary to tear her apart?

Whether you liked her or not a respectful flower doesn't mean that you agree with her policies. It would show that you have an ounce of compassion in your body.

May she rest in peace

Because as males they recognise a woman who was stronger than them all put together, with an intellect that makes them look like chipmunks. Who was not afraid to conduct a war 17000 milesn away to protect a group of people who were English. Whose obstinance really counted unlike the pale beta who stands in her shadow,

Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS, née Roberts (13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013), was a British politician, the longest-serving (1979–1990) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20th century, and the only woman to have held the post. A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname which became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented Conservative policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.
Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election and became Leader of the Opposition, as well as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became Prime Minister after winning the 1979 general election.

You sound like Harriett Harman. She also confuses misogyny with the simple fact that people hate her.

Personally I hope she died roaring. She was a despicable woman with few if any redeeming qualities, pure evil. I don't think the wives and mothers of the working class families she threw on the scrap heap will shed any tears for her tonight.

Not that many people like her, it's mostly armchair pundits from across the globe that do. And the women like me just fine... Feminists just hate anything that resembles logic, reason and truth.

Anyway, seen as she's dead I should say something positive about Maggaie, so I'll go with "better than Reagan".

Golly, that puts things in the past, despite it still feeling fresh for so many, I imagine.

Would it be a fair assessment to say she was wise economically, but callous and cruel on a humanitarian level?

May she rest in peace and may other's wounds be laid to rest also.

candio: May she find peace. She was a lady with a tough job who tried. Love her or hate her she was a human being that deserves a measure of respect in her passing.

Rest in Peace Margaret "Iron Lady" Thatcher.

Thank you! sad flower

No it wouldn't. Most of Britain is still struggling to recover from her lunatic far-right economic policies.

Completely incorrect, but this doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

She was an economic buffoon and her voodoo economic system is the one crashing today. But, the fact the she was less of an effete handwringer is one of the good things about her.

She hated Ireland with a passion and hated everything to do with it and let the hunger strikers starve to death instead of coming to some agreement

She WAS an Irish hating woman!

Also Working class communities were devastated in Britain because of her policies!!

wave I just heard on the news that she has been in a coma for many years. She sure was a fighter but now the fight is done and she can rest with no more pain. Annette gave those of us in her generation so much joy. moping
