jac379: So are you retracting your statements below? Are you now recognising that bleeding, being fertile, having a uterus, etc., is not the total criteria that create gender?
Is it possible, if bleeding, being able to get pregnant, having a uterus, ovaries, or oviducts is not necessary to being a woman and if being a woman is not contingent upon aesthetic appearance, maybe the mind, brain, or neurology is a contributory factor in gender?
What is it that has disgusted you when you have spoken to transgender people?
Why do you perceive them as being disguised if they are being who they are according to their own thoughts. feelings and opinion, that is, true to themselves?
I appreciate its a personal feeling, but is it possible that its difficult to explain rationally because those feelings are not actually terribly rational?
jac379: So, you're saying gender is a result of cultural conditioning, at least in part?
If that's the case, mustn't we identify with a gender in order to be socially conditioned into that role and way of being?
What I meant and wasnt fully able to express myself ..and I do hope this makes more sense ,is ,external stimuli to our senses and the way we process information from our environment ,like watching a movie ,seeing a muscle car etc
tarris: true! Sorry it's just that I presumed you had some idea of basic biology and phsycology I was mistaken in my presumption Never accounted for the modern, politically correct hippy thing!!

And where do you think culture comes from? An alien race? God? The spirit world?
No man's culture comes from mankind(unsurprisingly), and reproductively successful cultures reflect biological reality and this is why your(or should I say, the establishment's)ethics and views are resulting in the suicidal birth rate of today.

GUZMAN1: If you feel better, I'm in a contradiction.
I think a lot of distress experienced by people who don't fit into conventional gender categories is a result of other people's negative attitudes towards them.
I also feel that's unnecessary and it is each of our responsibilities to deal with our own negativity, or poor attitudes if they are causing extreme distress.
I would hope that most people don't like making others distressed with constant shunning, to the point they become psychologically unwell with depression, or suicidal feelings. In my understanding and experience, there lies the psychological disorder of gender identity and its totally resolvable.
I think many people have contradictory feelings towards gender identity issues and transgenderism. We may choose to find out and understand about it as much as we can.

Errr...no Boban, sorry.
I don't understand how you're relating external stimuli to the subject of being happy with one's gender.

That would make me feel better.
OK, but in my opinion my only duty towards them is being polite. I don't have to understand them and agree with their lifestyle.
