Immigration could have waited 1 month but then Croatia will become full member of European Economic Area (EEA)witch Iceland is also a member.
That means, in one month, they all can come back without any restrictions.

Then to waste money in a plane travel is stupid, in my opinion. If they have a good lawyer probably Iceland could save that money.

Adalstef: Around 50 Serbo-Croatians will be flown back home from Iceland in a charter flight next week. The people have been coming to Iceland from Croatia during the past months and they have applied for an asylum in Iceland as refugees.
The applications have already been declined, but the decision has not been announced to everybody in the group. The National Commissioner's office is planning the charter flight, but it has never happened before that refugees have sent from Iceland in a charter flight.
It is expected that the group will fly next week.

Asylum was never designed for economic refugees. Australia and New Zealand have the right solution. Nobody crosses their border without the correct visa. They get sent straight back.

If the applications were declined and the refugees failed to meet the criteria and or appeal for what ever reasons, it's probably better to send them home promptly rather than in months or years time.
What is the point on wasting resources on those that will inevitably be deported when the same resources could be used to help people who do meet the criteria.
