If you don't want to be in a relationship with him, why bother yourself about his motives. Time to move on and find someone you want to have a relationship with and someone you understand their actions and motives.

Right on! It's what the other commenter said too! I agree with everyone else... I will tell you about my experience with one of these 'friends' I had... it did not end well... lol... Stop asking the 'why' questions thus focusing on him and giving him the kind of attention he does not deserve. You will only confuse yourself and your feelings trying to figure out 'why'! Women are also known to be egoists and that is what you are doing right now! You say you are not interested but your story tells something else all together! Stop digging dirt and trying to figure him out just because he snobs you/ doesn't want a relationship with you. A friend once told me not to take every defeat in the love dept. personal. Sometimes, he/she is simply not interested! It's NOTHING personal... not everybody can want and love everybody else in this world. We cannot always have what we want! I don't think it's about him, per se. It's about both of you, it seems. If you both "often act like" you're in a relationship... You are in relationship, (unless you're not)!
Have an open, direct, discussion about both of your behaviours (and feelings) and if it turns out you both truly don't wish to be in relationhip with one another then stop acting (out) like you're in one and start examining what's causing you to 'act like.' Ultimately, you clearly have no control over what he chooses to examine or not examine.
