I'm more than willing to hear different opinions. Lots of people who disagree do in fact comment though Jimbo. Look at Fifi's comment here. But they don't comment with a counter argument, they comment with insults. Not much you can do with a hate-filled comment but ignore it.

I get everyone's different and entitled to their own views and whatnot but there's a massive difference between having an opinion and being a small minded person.... You live once so just live every day to the full and enjoy it :)

Everyone has got their own views and opinions and it's not up to me to decide who's right and wrong.....

Indeed. The subject of this thread however is 'small minded people', i.e. people that are regarded as 'small minded' because they don't have a leftist liberal attitude. Personally I'd say that's a rather narrow definition of small minded. I would say small minded is acting and thinking like a hive of drones. I would say small minded is being unable to make a cogent argument. I would say that small minded is thinking that if you throw enought insults you are the winner. But I'm open to suggestions because I'm not small minded

Exactly what I was saying. It does seem though that if you don't agree with the socialist perspective of things on here, you are small-minded. I suppose it comes down to the fact that the society we live in bombards us with propaganda saying how the "nanny state" knows best and if you don't fall behind that, you are small-minded. But this all happened before. It wasn't really that long ago that socialist thought nearly destroyed Europe the World. Most the proponents of socialism them times ended up dead when it finally came to pass. They realised that while good in theory, it was a disaster in reality. But the state couldn't have such thinkers. They would be difficult to control. So they were killed.

When you see how some Irish people were littering some of the beaches in the recent good weather and dumping rubbish out on the road (when the vast majority could have been recycled) then you know what small minds are.
I have been here a while, and when I started there were good, bad and indifferent people posting, the same is true now.
If there are people on here who are trying to expose or undermine some perceived threat to modern society, or further their own personal point of view and/or agenda , then it seems to me that all the research and hours of trawling the net looking for tenuous articles to post backing up their point of view is really, well, pointless.
After all this is a tiny corner of a dating site, that doesn't exactly attract a great deal of attention from its own members, let alone from the world at large.
So let people keep posting what ever crap they want, left wing, right wing, capitalist or Marxist, feminist or anti-feminist, the world beyond these forums doesn't even care that such posts even exist, let alone read them.
So, while people have the freedom to express their opinions, I have the freedom to ignore them, that is if I have even bothered to read them.

Nailed it in one! Bloody hell, and I thought I take life in general too serious! The day I start taking a forum on an internet dating site seriously then I know there's no hope for me!

I would say however that given enough time, someone's prose eventually betrays who they are. No matter how hard they try otherwise. I often see people claiming some sort of immunity 'cos it's the inTernetz' and somehow it doesn't matter.
It all matters. No one can claim immunity. No one is more than 2 or 3 phonecalls away from a name and a brief CV in this small country.
