I wouldn't say there can be an overload of information in your mind, but some people for a variety of reasons may have difficulties filtering external information.

I can't type if there's background noise like music and my environment has to be very organised and tidy for me to able to focus on working.

Its a matter of having effective coping strategies suited to your needs if you have difficulties with filtering external stimuli.

Anyways, unlike memory capacity or recall issues, the mind's biggest limit is probably comprehension. I know of people having speed reading abilities with really good retention and recall, but whether they comprehend what they read I find a different story.

Absolutely. I came across the concept "Information overload" when I studied Library science.


Information burns into our heads like fire. And we don't need more information.

We need wisdom.

Do topics ever end?

Say you're cooking rice. You might think you know everything about cooking rice, but there are so many different types of rice from different countries with different methods of growing with different conditions every year which might change the rice.

And then there's the structure of the rice itself and the structure of the molecules its made up of and stuff is still being learned about molecules and atoms and all thee bits and bobs which make atoms and ions.

And there's there's the economics, environmental factors, social factors, health factors...

Does a topic ever end? Perhaps genius is not knowing everything there is to know about one topic, but understanding the ways in which a topic may keep growing on a multitude of different levels?
