Merriweather: Hang on... of course you can say what you want... that is the beauty of it all... we are all individual.. and all free to agree or not... or agree to disagree..

You are accepted... everyone is...

this is not an ownership site...

I might add tho... you have joined our threads at rather a bad time.. but you did not know that..

There has been some sour grapes going down.. big time..

But I am undaunted... so be like me... and just don't let it get to you...

Cheers

No forum will get to me, sour grapes or not, I have seen far worst sour grapes than this, trust me this time, I have no grudges, but I will not tolerate ignorance. wine

justjim63: Being a Buddhist doesn't somehow automatically qualify a person as being proper and correct, it's just another religious brand, nothing more nothing less. The Japanese are a nation of Buddhists yet that didn't stop them from committing some of the most heinous war crimes known to man did it?
And the "give it time, You'll get to know us" comment smacks of an exclusive mindset, that makes c/s sound like some type of club that if You behave Yourself and kiss the right bums then You'll be accepted by the inner circle. Well if You feel that way then good on You, but this little black duck would prefer to be on the outer if that's the case.

Being an individual is the very essence of mankind and it shall remain with me my friend.cheers

The band that sung the song was Redgum, singer song writer was John Schumann, Written about Frank Hunt of 3pl A Coy 6 RAR. He really did step on a mine the day that Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon.

Rbjustme: Not to forget this...and let's not forget it, ever.

I was one of the "Chosen Few" of National Service at the age of 19. I did manage to avoid service beacause I was studying at the time. But it did mean that I was on the knife-edge to make sure I passed those exams so I did not have to serve for what I did not believe was "Right for our country."

I have many family, friends and acquaintences who did serve in Vietnam and they have not really told their stories. Uncle Mike who was in helicopters in the RAAF served in the "Police Action" in Malaysia for many years volunteered to do Vietnam service only so he could attract the War Services Loan Scheme when he returned from his many years of "Inactive" service fighting guerillas in Malysia.

Truth be told, the 19yo who were there where the ones "who wanted to fight............ whoever."

Always hated this commercially profitting song.

The Royalties for the song actually go to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia.
