professor Most definitely, they looked after us right? In some
societies, the elderly are revered, and the moral obligation is
never in question. I would not think twice about looking after
my Mother if she needed it.

I would do it too. I think it's sad to see people in a facility when they have adult kids able to take on the responsibility.

My mom can still function pretty well, even drives. I can see a time that if she needs support, she can move in with me if she wants. I'll do what I can until a nursing home is absolutely necessary.

Hell No! And have them fritter away my precious inheritance on expensive medication and health care. Compulsory euthanasia I say! grin

My parents are both dead, but I would gladly have taken care of them had they survived.

A day will come to ask if we have the right to have someone taking care of us.

Surely it depends on the relationship you have with your perants. Not everyone has a closeness with there family.
Being a moral obligation perhaps shouldnt be the reason to care for anyone,it should be done because you want to do it.
I certainly woulnt want anyone to care for me because they had a moral obligation.wine

I agree with your point about moral obligation but even if I wasn't close to my parents, I would still take care of them.

I dont disagree, and people must do what they feel right.
If i was seriously ill,i wouldnt want my family, who i never see and dont have contact with, suddenly appearing to nurse me or watch me die.
I envy those that have such a bond,it must be nice.bouquet
