Look, people are fatter these days than ever before. And it's not genetics. We haven't evolved in 40 years. Look at Ireland? 20 years ago there was very ltitle obesity anywhere in this country. Now? Highest levels of obesity among men in Europe and the women are just behind them. That's not genetics. That's bad living. It's lifestyle choices. You can't get fat unless you over consume on Carbohydrates and/or consume fat. That's a fact. Genetics that might swing the metabolic pathways a bit here or there mean nothing in the general scheme of things.------ This thread is Archived ------

I'm going to bed , but I just want to say that most of you lot are so pretentious and unforgiving. Good grief, you are all on a bloody dating site so that says something doesn't it? My two kids in their thirties have never had the need to be on a dating site so you young ones I really cannot take seriously here. I too dislike being here and feel rather embarrassed about it which is why I go for months sometimes years without logging in. Nobody other than my mother, my closest friend and mybdaughter know I belong to a dating site, and they all think I'm crazy for being here!
However, the point is that a very young woman posts a thread here and you all, or most of you, don't give any help other than advice to lose weight (from some who aren't super skinny either!) and criticism for being overweight.
Don't you know that some of you are flirting with alcoholics and druggies here? I can see lots of them, mal e and female. I've been here a long long time! Someone carrying a bit of excess weight is far less worrying for me and deserves a little slack.

(in some cases: what ever the medical condition for a person is not to be fit there is one solution to it).
Being fit is not easy.
Getting up at 6 am and go to swim for an hour 5/7 is as pleasant as to stay in bed.
Although once in the water you do enjoy it!

That's the same simplistic argument as before, yes exercise and healthy eating is a good thing, I run 5km 5 times a week work out, hike swim kayak etc, and eat healthy and sensible. and weigh smack bang in the middle of my height weight range. I'm not in bad condition for a 50 year old, So i'm not coming at this from an overweight persons perspective. But there is in all honesty plenty of scientific and medical literature that's been published to support the fact that a persons weight is determined by more than something as simple as diet and exercise. Sure some people are overweight due to factors that they can control, but not all overweight people are in that position. Sometimes it's more complicated.
In the end discrimination of any sort, should be discouraged, it's the last bastion of the ignorant.

Jim my thoughts are that being aware of the dramatic increase of obese people in the western world is not a case of discrimination?
And not being attracted to them isn't either? It's called 'choice'.
And no, not all overweight people are subject to factors outside their control, far from it.
