Can anybody tell me where to find the EGR valve on new a Ford Galaxy 1.8 TD please ? I did the diagnostic test and its indicating that this valve needs attention.

No idea ,I could tell u about Toyota or Honda or suzuki etc if u were in pakistan
EGR (exhuast gas return) valve is on the exhaust manifold and directs exhaust gas back to the intake manifold. It boosts intake in hard acceleration, kind of like a turbo would.

Thanks yes I know that just wanted to know where it is positioned exactly and whether I could change it myself. In England its DIY because nobody knows what they are doing.

Hiya , I'm Ford owner and member of the Ford Owners Club UK .
Here's a link to the Galaxy owners Forums , you might find some help there . When you say new , do you mean brand new , latest reg ? In need of an EGR so soon ???
robplum: you put some fuel injector cleaner in your fuel, worked on my mazda's turbo
Thanks I might try that, I found an EGR cleaner at local car parts store ( asked the sales person if he can tell me where is this valve he had no clue of course) I thought maybe just clean it with the spray would temporarily fix the problem . Engine management light still on though.

After cleaning the EGR, clear your service engine light using the OBD reader if you have one or disconnect the battery...there's a few methods of clearing it. If after clearing the engine service light it comes back on, then the problem hasn't been resolved and more troubleshooting is is required.

The EGR ( Exaust Gas Recirculation) Valve is on the Exhaust Manifold, and sometimes is in the Intake Manifold! They usually have 2-4 Bolts, and a metal tubing coming out of them, they become Clogged up with Carbon, and one from a junk yard may also be clogged...unless it is a low mileage engine....A new one is not real cheap, but a new one would be best in my opinion...

Around here nice country roads, not much traffic so I usually drive pretty quietly, one day someone said something about whether the Mazda was under powered or something, soon after i left and berried my boot, from what i understand then occurred what they call the "Gate" in the Turbo jammed. Took it to the Mazda Dealer (Most 4x4 Mazda are also badged as a Ford)mines a 2005 2.5 Turbo diesel. Anyway farmer John happened to turn up at the Mazda dealer and suggested the "Fuel Injector Cleaner Additive" and Mazda thought worth a try and it worked, been ok ever since.
John now actually adds it to his farm fuel, certainly doesn't do any harm, so perhaps suggest it to your mechanic cause it certainly fixed mine
