MadBushpig: ... I put it to you all that George Zimmerman is suffering from PTSD following the events that resulted in Trayvn Martim being shot and killed. If a policeman shoots so,meone in the line of duty he is councilled and offered support. A civilian like George Zimmerman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin (in self defence) recieves nothing but harrasment and negative publicity. The poress and the liberal left are directly responsible for this mans actions simply because they cannot accept a legal ruling. The press will continue to hound this man until he eventually cracks and then shout "see, I told you". It's like a kid poking a dog in the eye and then howling when the dog bites him. I wonder what the 'girlfriend is after, possibly her two minutes of fame or perhaps a book deal ...

Are you for realwow

I think you mean Trayvon Martin's family don't you.
George Zimmerman had a history of aggression before he took it upon himself to shoot a 17 year old according to his neighbours.

Hi Glitch,wave

I am not making excuses for this individual, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was abused as a kid and had a lack of self-esteem.
It doesn't excuse the fact that he killed someone, but he showed his asocial and violent behavior on many occasion and continued without supervision or medication.
They should have confiscated his firearms at his first sign of psychological imbalance in his past.
He has demonstrated that he is incapable of controlling his rage and should be prevented from owning a firearm ever again. With a felony conviction or not, he won't be anyway as they could find him in need of mental therapy. wine

Another rush to judgement eh.

I believe this incident is still a she said, he said story, or did I miss something. So, what is your real point? Just beggars belief?

From A more believable less biased web site......

"Zimmerman, 30, was taken to a jail in Sanford, Florida, and faces charges including aggravated assault with a firearm, which is a felony, and two misdemeanors, domestic violence and criminal mischief, Lemma said.

If found guilty he could face between three and 15 years in jail, according to David Weinstein, a Miami attorney and former state prosecutor."

Afternoon Delatudewave

Whilst I agree that there may have been issues from the past,I find it difficult to understand why he was promoted to a neighbour hood watch position given this history.

Don't they do background checks on people in a position of trust, especially if they have a firearm. dunno

I still think that there is no smoke without fire, and that he has some serious anger issues which need dealing with.handshake

Am I not entitled to an opinion.dunno I'm not alone in my thoughts.

Your past posting history is pro gun, which is fine but it worries me that someone who may use the gun as a threat towards others is walking your streets. j.m.o.

I thinkthe Americans have a different mindset on carrying weapons to the English. It's better to just accept the difference I know the Americans are not going to give up willingly their right t bear arms.
Because of the prevalence of guns there will be glitches in the system, I feel it's their business although anyone has the right to an opinion.

I am pro all of our rights here in the USA, yes, which includes our rights to own and use guns.
Actually, I am pro anything as long as it harms no one else.

True, Zimmerman should face the penalties If he used a gun as his girlfriend report he did.

So, what is your point and what does 'just beggars belief' mean?

If I recall, he took it upon himself to carry a firearm and he was playing cop when the only tool he was provided with was a radio.
His position in a neighborhood watch is volunteer and doesn't require a firearm. It's not an official position.
They do a background check when applying for a pistol permit, but if he never was arrested, convicted or did a stint in a mental hospital on a court order, there is no reason they would deny him.

The CCW laws in the US varies from state to state. wine

You taking the mickeygrin

I am not interested if Americans want the right to bear arms.I'm only interested in a man who seems to be trigger happy, and a bit unbalanced bearing arms.

Judging by some of the posts even the Americans think so too. handshake

I take your point Glitch, I am not privy to all the evidence of this case although on the surface of it he does seem unstable. But incidences like this happen every day in America, and with people just as probable to blow your brains out than punch you on the nose. It is their way of life, and the majority of people, in America, want to maintain this.

Just look at the shooting incidents in say NY in one day.

I'm not passing judgement, it's not the British way of life but they are not British.

... Well now, let's look at what happened. The only crime that occured when Trayvon Martin was shot (in self defence) by George Zimmerman was when Trayvon 'wanna be gangsta' assaulted George Zimmerman (I guess Trayvons parents should have taught him that it's not nice to assault other people and bash their heads on the floor). The press and loony left have hounded this poor man constantly since he was found 'not guilty' of 2nd degree murder ... Trayvon got exactly what he deserved ... George Zimmerman on the other hand has been constantly harrased and hounded. I'm not surprised he's loosing it ...

I have seen this topic go back and forth(for and against) continually on here. Fact is Zimmerman is the one who put himself where he is is today. Whether or not he is allowed to own a gun is irrelevant, there is always a way get a gun. Being harassed and hounded is not a reason for his actions, just an excuse. JMO scold

Well, I guess you can also say there is a heck of a lot more violent crime there in your tiny isle than we have here in the continental USA!
Actually, as of June 2013, "There are over 2,000 crimes recorded per 100,000 population in the U.K.," compared to "466 violent crimes per 100,000" in the United States."
