and the garda are getting guns to shoot anyone who wont pay.

I think at least one of these issues should have been put to the people in a referendum !

Or did we lose the right to referendums when we voted yes to no on the ratification of the lisbon treaty

Just buy a pump and use the flooding - water charges indeed, in a country that's personified by the word wet.

Do people in Ireland pay for the amount of water they use?

Or is it a fixed price?

MADDOG69: They'll find some way to introduce regulation of the well. Inspections etc .. like with the septic tanks.

wtf would they be inspecting a well for..its a few hundred ft down..ah i dunno this country is mad..trying to squeeze money out of thin airireland
Jan 6, 2014 1:27 PM CST I hear the water rates are being introduced soon.
MADDOG69: Sure they could. They'd invent loads of stuff. Make sure your pressure tank is in a cage. Make sure it's at the right pressure. Take water samples. Test on site for particulates. LOADS of stuff they could test ya for if they wanted to go that route.

Must have cost a few quid to sink the well 200+ft down. Get's pricey fast.

Seem to have parrot phrased your post, was in the kitchen filling bottles beer

No, they won't shoot you for not paying. That's not how the racket goes. First the government thievery department (Revenue) send you a bill. If you ignore that they send you another and a warning you will be made to go to a room in a government building where they all pretend one major crook lawyers with political connections (the judge) will 'fine' you for not paying. That's the initial bill plus more for crossing them. If you don't pay then you get a letter to go to the court, usually delivered by the men in funny costumes (gardai). If you ignore that the chief crook (judge) sends the men in funny costumes to kidnap you and put you in a cage. If you refuse to go they will use whatever force it takes to make you go. At that point you may be shot dead. You see, there is no profit in shooting all the tax cows. It's better to just threaten them. But you must not allow any to be free otherwise it could be a bad example to the other tax cows.

Mooo!

Why not commit your VOTE with this non-political group who are willing to do something about the Property and Water taxes - that's IF you really want to get them abolished. It won't cost you a cent, but the success will save you a lot of money. It's your choice - do something, or keep moaning. Together we can do it!!

So far here water has a fixed price. Not so long ago so did the electricity.

It could be a good thing to have that device that reuses the water u used to have a shower/ sink wastewater to flush the toilet, or a dry toilet.

Nothing new in the idea about the buying and selling of votes.
In fact its apolitical goal of some oppressive regimes. If you ask me its a Political Pandora's box.
We already have a system where Votes are supposed to mean action for the people. Its called Democracy and if its not working its probably something else.
and besides do you think the party that got in on this basis,
would not think of another way to "fumble in the greasy till."
