M1ck1e: I use my tea bags twice. If it's good tea the second cup will be as good as the first.
What brand do you use M1ck1e?
Ccincy: I'll never forget when my son was a newborn and the kitchen sink had plugged up.
I didn't have a plunger so I used one of his baby bottles as a plunger. The top of the bottle fit just right in the hole of the drain and when I added some more water it caused enough pressure that I was able to unplug the sink.I wash out the bigger size Miracle Whip jars and use them for canisters in which to put flour, sugar and doggie treats.
The sink from my former apartment used to get plugged up, what a nuisance.
Thanks for the ideas CC!
2intrigued: I save my discarded pantyhose and cut long strips to use as ties for plants that need to be staked...eg. tomato plants. The stretchy material allows the plant stalk to grow unrestricted.
unlaoised: They're brilliant for curling hair with too

What are you talking about Ali? What things are kept away from family?
I do very little recycling and I must confess I make very little garbage. One of the big industries here is plastics. It is ubiquitous! So just ensuring that plastics is returned to be reused is a major effort in my home.
I don't drink anything but water or tea or coffee. No soda pop or flavored water, no juices.
I eat a lot of different type of fruit and vegetables - although I must admit I enjoy a drink of coconut water every so often.
What I find so odd here, is that in this State of great weather and soil of all kinds of fruits and vegetables, no one has their own garden in their back yard except for flowers and shrubs. Who would guess where they could have a self sustaining garden that no one, including myself, bothers. Fruits and vegetables are so inexpensive and so plentiful in the stores.
I try to save when i shop exsample i`am single but i`ll buy a roast so i can make two or three meals 1 day a hot beef sandwich then maybe a beef stirfry or soup or i freeze the rest for later!

recycled jars and cans are great when reused again in the house.

There's nothing quite like a sun ripened tomato that you pull off a plant that you've cultivated yourself. The taste is completely different

As I am a singly at the moment, my masterpiece is a grand stew with garlic and seasoning, it can be expensive to make but I can freeze up four days portions and the remainder can be used over 2 days, the second day made into a curry with large portion of rice, overall it works out cheap all round, tip use bread rolls with butter it is a bit more expensive but healthier and filling.

you are preaching to the choir here - but why bother when I can get an organically grown sun ripened tomato pulls off the vine, and freshly delivered to my local grocery, and I don't have to worry about the weeding or efforts to naturally control the pests. I agree the taste is different - yet it is just not done here.
save your coffee grinds..dry em out and put in a jar in the shower. they make a great body scrub and contain anti-oxidants and tighten skin.
lotsa folks know this easy one..but in case ya don't.. put a dry beach towel into the dryer with wet clothes...cuts drying time in half and saves on your hydro.

coffee grinds are good for all plants and flowers, they are a natural fertilizer plus an insecticide cut the peel of the bananas and put them in the earth at the feet of your rose bush or tree, they will do marvels add garlic gloves, its a naturel insects repulsant if you want a natural bareer anti-insects at home, put basil, lemon grass and odorant pelargonium at all strategic places, windows, terrasses etc if you grow your own tomatoes, put a small link of copper at their feet, so the insects will avoid them and they will taste better.
