Being within the realm of people' close family' friends dying, being close to god is a wonderment' anew opening' as one famous person said here in New Zealand, I hope I'm on the right side of the ledger.

Whilst still alive and living life, I suppose what happens when dying, is not in the conscience to many.

But I see we all need comfort to someone.

In the beginning when the world was still filled with scary unexplainable stuff people needed gods to blame or give the credit to. Pleasing the gods were the only way to try and control the world around them. Later on they saw they can use God for a lot of other things as well...like controlling people. They always had rules within the community but that was man made rules so they added God and eternal punishment to give more authority to it. To explain the evil amongst them they created Satan and then the fight began between Satan and God.

Now we know so much more...in fact enough to see that the world can go round without having gods to look after it. Even though the gods are redundant large groups of people don't want to let go of them. They must realize by now that the percentage of prayers being answered is very low, but they still keep on praying.

Is it just a crutch to the weak, a way to avoid taking responsibility for their actions, avoid facing reality or do they really believe God makes a difference in how things are?

Coming from a religious background and learning at an early age that the Christian God can't be trusted, I explored some other religions and their gods. My conclusion was if there are gods around they are not of much use. Maybe they are busy watching human sacrifices by primitive people on the latest planet they have created. Taking bets on who is going to become the supreme god of that planet.

I know I am more than just my body, my personality and my mind as I have the seed of life, that can't be destroyed, within me. When I die my body, personality and mind will rot and fade away. The spark of life will continue within some other living thing without any trace of me attached to it. My life is not empty and meaningless without a god or eternal life in heaven to look forward to. Life is filled with millions of opportunities waiting to be explored. So I live it as it comes along...sometimes reluctantly and sometimes with passion.

Bring me a god who is reliable, trustworthy, unconditionally loving, fair, available when needed and can manifest himself in a clear way so we need not doubt his existence. Then and only then will I believe again.[/quote

Hope to live.
Faith to live well.
Grace to give those who let me live.

tomcatwarne: I think most intelligent people believe in a higher form of intelligence in the universe, not to be confused with religion. O asume that human intelligence is Godlike is arrogance in the extreme.

Most intelligent people have worked out, that there can not be just one God, or Godlike entity. After seeing what so called Christians have done for centuries, and what stories are told in the bible about God, to me a loving god can not be a destroyer of mankind or life in general.
Being an intelligent and open minded guy that I am, I honestly believe, that the God that we have come to know, is actually an alien, if not God, the his son Jesus. It only makes sense if you're willing to open your mind to the possibilities.

A couple of years ago, I read in the paper, that they had found what they were to believe to be the place where man first existed. Where was it? In Africa. After coming to some of my own conclusions, the "black man" is the one of the Earth, and the other species of man came from aliens.
There's a great documentary, the name of which escapes me, would open your eyes to the wonders of the Earth and the possibilities of aliens coming here in our history.

For one item, Man has not ever nor will he ever create anything that was not supplied by a higher power. The sad part is that those who do not believe, one simple question. If you don't believe, then how do you explain the creation of Life? You cant, and you never will. Yes I do believe in God, I would rather believe in a All Supreme Being, the Unmoved Mover, now then find out later when it is too late. We all have beliefs, and some don't believe which is respected by me. But have you ever looked into the night sky and think to yourself, HOW we were created?

AesopsFables: Chris its much more complicated than your conception of it. Anybody with earnest research will come across the facts. We are in a real life matrix here, and I'm not talking of the minor matrix created by the Shadow government on earth.
So according to you, there are minor Gods and above them a Supreme One.Great!!! we had that more then 2000years ago, Zeus and his minor Gods, didn't worked out.-grin grin grin

AesopsFables: In my studies and research I came across the following: 'Conventional religion is for the young souls, of which there are an abundance compared to the older more evolved souls. Therefore the prevalence of the five passions (lust, greed, anger, attachment and vanity), is common among the masses. The older soul, disillusioned with what it sees on the earth plane, questions the existence and/or validity of the apparent presiding God/s.'

Earth, like other planets is a training school for souls at all levels of awareness. If you're perfect, you don't have to be here. We are here because we are still growing spiritually. Experience is the best teacher, so here we are in this giant tumbler called earth. Rough diamonds are thrown into the tumbler, and as they bump and rub against one another, they get polished and become precious, sparkling diamonds. One of those diamonds is You.
Are you sure,we will find souls in other planets.????

I'm James, an Australian Christian.I became a true Christian at 24yrs after trying to find God. I grew up going to a Christian church where a lot of what happened was simply routinised. I had a sense that there was more to God than this experience. I went to other churches to try to find God and I found true believers who I believe prayed for me. After a 5 years of looking I experienced God communicating very personally to me at a Men's breakfast meeting. Soon after I experienced what I now know was being "born again" (spiritual birth) when I gave my life to Jesus Christ.

I believe in God for the simple reason that: 1/God showed Himself to me in spite of my attempts to find Him.
2/ Loving God-believers prayed for me to have a revelation of God
3/God drew me to Himself and revealed Himself personally

It's not just about faith, but logic. I believe in the truth of things, and logic tells me aliens are the cause of many religions. Trust me, if you watched the documentary ......... of the Gods, you might agree with me. But even before watching it, I felt that there was something more to life than what we think we know already.
The only faith I have in, is knowing that there is an afterlife. I'm the type of person that you simply can not slot. I have many beliefs, even if I am a Christian. Some would say I'm confused or maybe even loopy, but I'm far from it. transport

you would have to have more than evidence to hold the truth, you would have to have undisputed fact. There is evidence for many unexplained events on this earth and the universe but yet none have been established as fact. But you are free to believe.

AesopsFables: Yes

Do you have any references or proof of your theories, if not they as false as religion.

Because religion has failed us does not mean there is not some explanation for everything.
