fishinacreek: yeah that's what this was for, bushfires, and they are designed to be used with oxygen tanks, but they never told the woman that,so she wants it higher up to ground level or her money back.bit sus anything in an enclosed space, two guys died a few years ago climbing into a waater tank to clean it,died instantly as the oxygen level was only %5
sounds like they have built her a death trap , few years an Aussie got into a power of trouble because he cleared all the trees away from his house . Point was lost though as his house was only one left standing . A lot more could be done to reduce the type of trees that burn from around housing with out the area taking on a desert look .All the PC crap about trees having more rights than people is daft .
gota go , slay some trees 4 firewood newzealand

A simple venting system is all that's needed to keep fresh air circulating in an underground room otherwise many people would be dropping dead in underground parking.
There are many good examples on YouTube if you want to see for yourself. It ain't rocket science that's for sure. professor

gold71: have you heard about solar power? Generators? Natural venting? It's really not that hard to supply air to an underground room. I am not making it up as I go along, there is plenty of examples on the net but you don't want to know, you just like to hang crap for the sake of it......
haha pretty fluffy doomsday , I have built a sola system to power my house , in use since 2005 good enough to rely on to power everything . Generators along with sola have a finite life better hope your doomsday is over quick . Solar panels are very visible so negate living in a bunker . And as for food supply is very easy to hunt out an area of several hundred acres feeding just three people , as this is how my boys and I lived at least 6 years .Continual movement or a productive area is the only way to survive an extended period . I won't be taking a nap because I will miss your doomsday .

I have a solar system here also we have never had the mains put on, I live in an isolated area and I wouldn't need to hide my panels too well. I am surrounded by thousands of hectares of world heritage rainforest and am on a major river.....all that aside, I just think it would be a good thing after watching the t.v show called doomsday prepping, I would rather have one than not. If nothing happens....... Then I can turn it into a gimp room!wine

honestly, no I havent considered putting my time and effort into building a bunker for something that mainly paranoid people beleive in.
I prefer to live in the here and now, not in the what ifs and maybes usually based on someones personal opinion.

Yes the world will "end" one day and life as we know it will and life as we live it will be annihilated or radically changed for ever more, it has been happening since the beginning of the world as we know it.

If you were to ask if living in a tropical area prone to cyclones etc if I would consider it, well that is a different matter as the basis for building is based much more in fact. But also that is one of the reasons I dont live in a tropical area, so I dont have to consider it as much.

Good luck with your prepping for doomsday, yep I wont see you the other side of it most likely, but then that will probably because old age will have kicked in long before....

Missy Jem, long time in passing since I have heard words of wisdom from you. Now wondering if it is good to hear you are still around or "Damn, she has not been as lucky as that guy should have been."

Back to Doomsday Prepping. When Doomsday does finally happen it will be a time of ANARCHY. This will mean that we people will have to fend for ourselves.

But think on the positive side.

- No more having to vote for pollies and the obvious lies we all do not believe in
- No more lying to "mates" about who we voted for
- No more having to put up with that boss that "has no idea what real work is"
- I can wear jeans every day I want to because I want to wear them. Who gives a toss if Prezzi O'baa'maa (tell me if I am wrong but doesn't that sound like a Kiwi love call?), Aunt Lizzie or the Dalianting Llamas doesn't like them...... I do.

hug Wash, still around just been working a bit too much of late.

Jeans, wear em everyday, the bonus of being in the "back office" is you dont have to dress to impress customers!

Doomsday prepping for me is more learning the everyday skills needed to survive without services. Growing and catching and preparing of food, how to live in and with your environment, not trying to mold it to you.
How to do the basics for everyday survival day in day out, not just the short term. I guess growing up on a small farm with a diverse background of farming, butchering etc gives a different aspect of it for me.
Hope your health is keeping well Wash

If there was was such a thing as doomsday the population would half in 3 months and within 12 months there would be something like only 10% of people alive. The city folk would move to the bush and eat everything that walketh and crawleth rolling on the floor laughing I wouldn't be surprised if we weren't forced to eat each other in the process.laugh so your doomsday bonkers bunkers would be nothing more than a Hollywood fantasy.rolling on the floor laughing

why Hollywood fantasy? Many people have built them and many more are building them. The future is uncertain
and making some sort of preparations isn't such a dumb idea I reakon!comfort

dude a bunker might save you from your non nuclear bombs but it aint gonna save you from starvation. laugh I don't think you are looking at the whole picture. With millions of people living out of Woolworths and Coles
(Not of the land) if say only the electric grid got hit how many people would survive before it got restored? laugh

Depends what you mean by a "doomsday" AA (and Gold71). by "doomsday" do you mean annihilation by nuclear bombs? Or a virulent epidemic among humans or a part of our food supply? (For example an epidemic wiping out all wheat crops in the world could be catastrophic.) Maybe an asteroid impact? A chemical spill affecting most of the world?
Would any of these halve the world's population in 3 months? Don't know how you can be so specific?
I guess the idea of the bunker is protection against roving bands of armed and dangerous people looking for a means of survival? If properly set up and equipped they might also protect against mild nuclear fall-out, chemicals, disease spores and space radiation. Expensive proposition though.

I would say doomsday is population annihilation, not unless he means something else?dunno
