Don't you think being on site then even makes it more difficult for you/us? Time we could/should have spent to develop a social networks and a full filling social life goes now to cyber friends whom we'll in any event most probably will never meet?

I work (long hours, on call 24/7 when I am on shift, and spend most of my time)in a remote area. developing a social life is not a real easy task.

I have been on here for awhile now..and have only seen about 4 wemen that had interested me all together...Alot of people here will not talk that much...I find it offensive sometimes..

I understand, I share similar circumstances, however then I doubt whether the intent is really to develop a social network. For me it is only to feel better as I realize I am not the only lonely soul with a gap in my life on this planet

Ah well, perhaps one day....not thinking that connecting singles is the place for that anymore though. I do now realize that most on here are not seriously searching.

I also wonder if a site (because of the dating aspect thereof)...can't leave people with inadequate feelings...so many pretty pics...The pretty ones turn out to be the scammers, the moderate ones are the ones that don't even look our way and the interest comes from someone we can hire to scare our children at day time ...

its all about location location location.
if you live in an area where internet is rare and density of people is low you will always have the problem that meeting your date will take you a second mortage to your house and a days flight to have a glass of wine together.
if there's a lot of members on a small area like Malta or Cyprus this site could work fine.
we all ended up here cause we are looking for something we dont have.
partner, social life, admirers or whatever.
some stay here, some leave quickly.
just dont raise your hopes up too high.
i have met 3 lovely women on here so far so its possible to find love here.

We can indicate almost all emotions with a little face or expression, making us very comfortable with written communication...would we be able to convey the same message by only using speech?
Fun we have on this site, is 'safe' fun...because no strings are attached...worst case scenario...delete a blog or keep quiet...no consequences in case anyone disagree or do not approve...real life and the test is to find a compromise... The site is thus a very patient and safe place to have fun...
Dependency on site friends and site communication can thus create an illusion of a world filled with friends only to find we are very lonely in our little world's...

Just take the thing here lightly, in any way you can never be lonely in the real life, if you have your job, your family and of course some good friends around, what you can obtain in a virtual communication is totally different from the actual you have. After a full day of activity spending time on line isn't that a waste of time at all. I think the real waste of time is when you're not enjoying anything you do, whatever the nature of it, if passing time here thus procure to each and everyone a certian pleasure, then i can't call it a waste of time, just be realistic,,
