Our Purpose in Life ( Archived) (30)

As I am embarking on the last chapter of my life, having dodged and survived two cancers and now declared very healthy and will live long, at least from my doctors and specialists, I can't help but ask myself deeper, "what truly am I here for?"

As a mother, I have raised four lovely children who all love me so much and seeing them raise their own children much the same way as I taught them, as my mother taught me, I am so grateful and thankful that I have to share this thoughts for anyone who is interested.

When we reach a certain point in life and know that anytime any moment, we are gone, it makes me think, what truly is our purpose in life? After reading so many books and learned so much in life, there are two great men that influenced me and with whom I learned so much that all my living principles are all evident of these virtues. I would love to share them with anyone, who is interested to know.

John F. Kennedy, said: "We must contribute in some way, to make things better."

Ralph Waldo Emerson went a little further and said: "The purpose in life is not to be happy, it is to be useful, honorable, compassionate. To have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."

Hoe we all have a joyful, fruitful and peaceful New Year ahead of us.

I was reading a poem about death (sudden) and it brought me this kind of thinking.

I didn't ask to be born, and certainly know that I would not know when I die, but in between birth and death I know, there are some things I should and shouldn't do. Deeper in my line of thoughts are the questions that brings me to evaluate my life.

I don't have any regrets but I am positive I can do better, and that is why, I want to understand, why all these cruelties in life, why our world is full of negative energy and yet life is so short and precious? I am sure most of us ask this question, or am I the only one?
