Kind of """Catch-22"""situation for some of us in CS.

Therapeutic ranting meets sociological study. Not like a worm in a science beaker, nicer. I'm studying the lying liars, the pettiest bullies, and the twattiest cliques with an interest to see human nature unmasked. How degenerate can people become when not policed by reality? That is the question and I look to CS for the answer.

Facebook is too close to home, the people are not strangers. Other forums are faceless and you don't get the time to watch how people behave over any duration, the turnover is too great.
CS is good because it most closely mimics a real life social circle but remains not real life. And what strikes me about CS is how much it is like a playtime food fight. And it's an education. I may give out the impression that I'm not interested in the people here, but I am. To understand the infantilised world it's best to ingratiate yourself with the juvenile. And I can't hang around 10 year olds, I'd get arrested, but I can effectively do that here.

The important thing is to never lose yourself to this unreal life. Never lie, bully, clique or do anything which is investing too much emotion and importance into the online void, it is a bottomless pit of egotism from which there is no return. You have to limit your exposure to Connecting Singles. Stare into the abyss for long and the abyss stares into you.

KremaP: Am I missing something here... Well, consider yourself lucky for escaping my constant misbehaviour, stubbornness and crazy mood and mind changes... And that's just to start with...
KremaP: Errr, haven't you heard that the opposites attract?! So, we are no match made in heaven...
. My biggest problem is missing the bus home and where l would sleep until the morning, l was hoping that you would have in an emergency a space in your bed, if not then we could take turns sleeping on top of each other, l don't snore and l hope l would not have time too.

I think most people here had the same intention, to meet someone. Some have met their half either here in CS or in real life, but stay because of the forum, just to interact. Some have given up finding someone here, perhaps because of the distance or other reasons. My reason for staying is to relax with the puzzles and games. CS offers many options you don’t see on other “dating” sites.

My motive was two-fold: meeting others and forming friendships, and talking about all kinds of things, history, current events, etc..so far, so good!
(lately I am taking a bit of flack, it feels like, anyhow, for one thread, but it's groovy--goes with the territory).

Mostly to see just how warped a virtual world can be. It can have a sense of humor. A sense of "grouping" and gathering. A sense of "sharing". A sense of dreams and expressions. Maybe even a sense of belonging.
It can be informative, twisted, and generally not very giving unless it's others' willing to give away places and things that don't or won't even affect them.
Meeting people? Dating? Getting too wrapped up sitting and hiding behind a screen? It's not a likely factor for me. I like to take my time and that means a lot of reality. I can easily put any thing virtual on hold. Life won't stop until the day I fall asleep for good.
