violence just leads to more violence

you plant an apple seed a apple tree grows

plant loving kindness loving kindness grows

“An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.”
? Mahatma Gandhi

“Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”
? Isaac Asimov, Foundation

“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.”
? Ernst F. Schumacher

“I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.”
? Mahatma Gandhi, The Essential Gandhi: An Anthology of His Writings on His Life, Work, and Ideas

If we desire a society of peace, then we cannot achieve such a society through violence. If we desire a society without discrimination, then we must not discriminate against anyone in the process of building this society. If we desire a society that is democratic, then democracy must become a means as well as an end. Bayard Rustin

The Reality of War

Of course, war and the large military establishments are the greatest sources of violence in the world. Whether their purpose is defensive or offensive, these vast powerful organizations exist solely to kill human beings. We should think carefully about the reality of war.

Lineage of the Dalai Lama: Tsong Khapa (1357-1419) founded Ganden monastery in 1409. A graduate of the austere Karmapa order, his doctrine emphasised monastic discipline.

During the tenure of the third Gelugpa leader, Sonam Gyatso (1543-1588), a Mongolian force invaded Tibet. When the Mongol leader, the Altan Khan, met Sonam Gyatso he was so awed as to immediately convert to Buddhism.

Most of us have been conditioned to regard military combat as exciting and glamorous - an opportunity for men to prove their competence and courage. Since armies are legal, we feel that war is acceptable; in general, nobody feels that war is criminal or that accepting it is criminal attitude. In fact, we have been brainwashed. War is neither glamorous nor attractive. It is monstrous. Its very nature is one of tragedy and suffering.

thumbs up applause

Violence begets violence. Hence the need for war to make money and create fear to keep subugates (electorate) down.

Well, for the record, these things applied to certain situations, and certainly do not apply to some situations which calls for stern action.

Aragorn11: Ok will give it a go. But please refrain from the insulting rhetoric thanks It was not a trick question, but a simple one.

Am sorry if that caused you an insult. Was meant as a jest, nothing designed to more malicious ends.

Aragorn11: I think there is blame on both sides, to think otherwise would be ridiculous imo. I have never said any different but nice try.

But you are saying exactly what you are denying.
Aragorn11: Thats your opinion and one you're entitled to. You see terrorists, I see people who have been bombed out of their homes with nowhere to live. I see human beings looking for a safe haven, most of whom I think would want to return to their home when the fighting is over. I don't think we should turn our backs on them.

Well, are you really up to date with the news? The majority of terrorist incidents came from well-settled people. They have come to colonize you and send you back to the middle ages. Good luck trying to convince yourself that its not. And yes, some people are leaving you, but only to fight for ISIS. Any bizarre explanations on the exodus of people from Europe to ISIS controlled lands?

Aragorn11: Because it was a brutal regime, lorded over by a tyrannical dictator. I think the political pressure and the trade barriers put in place was leading Iraq into a better place, but then the West told a lot of lies and invaded a country they should never have invaded killing 100's of thousands. Are their lives worth nothing or do you think Iraq'is should just say thank you very much Mr West. The West were ill prepared for taking over Iraq and governing and Bush and Blair were repeatedly warned about a 2 generation conflict should they invade which they ignored. IS is what came of it.

Well, its easy to sit there and try to research the difference between a regime and islamic terrorism and turning a blind eye to people being slaughtered over there because they are not muslim?

Aragorn11: I think people use religion to further their own ends, always was and always will be.

Please, do read the facts on the ground. Its not as simple as that. It is because this community does not respect the law of the land. They respect only Islam and sharia. No amount of integration, appeasement or reconciliation will ever appease them. It is unfortunate that we have to suppress them by brute force, but that is only language they understand.

Aragorn11: Do you think the terrorist attacks in Europe and elsewhere has anything to do with the Invasion of Iraq and the West's meddling in Syria displacing 10 million people.

A yes or no will suffice, thanks.

Lol, I will answer your question, but not with the options you provided. Nice try btw.

The situation in some countries caused by war has over time caused the displacement of people. But that is again the problem of the foreign policies of your governments. You are responsible only to the extent of electing dubious people into power. You cannot always control their actions once they are in power just by saying that you elected them. They might make decisions for lobbies, for other interests. It is plainly stupid to take all of their guilt on you. You aren't jesus christ to atone for the sins of the whole world. Moreoever, it is a sense of misplaced atonement if you simply allow them to come and kill you. If you feel responsible, and indeed want to atone for being an indirect cause of the killing of people, please do so by starting at home and stop the killing there-obviously, this has to be done by stopping the unchecked refugee influx, and letting the security forces deal islamic terrorism with a free hand by not crying foul over a misplaced sense of individual human rights vs collective good. And further, next time you elect, make an informed decision, and elect the right people for the right job. You cannot have a soft state, or politically correct liberals in a difficult situation. You need people who can take unpopular, stern decisions, bring an end to islamic terrorism, and the war in the middle east at the same time. Easier said than done, but if you give it as much thought as you give to find apologies for islamic terrorism, perhaps you might understand. And neither can you have a diktat government when you are in complete peace too. Different situations call for different measures dude. And this problem definitely calls for sterner stuff.

'We must take revenge': Chinese newspaper urges country to declare WAR on Australia and warns of 'strike' after Julie Bishop's comments over South China Sea dispute

A state-run Chinese newspaper has demanded 'revenge' against Australia after it backed an international tribunal's landmark decision to reject its claims over the South China Sea.

The Chinese navy launched into military drills with their Russian allies in the East China Sea on Monday amid heightened maritime tensions in the region

China was found to have violated the Philippines' maritime right by erecting artificial islands which decimated natural coral reefs and disrupted both fishing and oil exploration

In what The Sun described as an 'immediate show of strength', the Chinese navy launched into military drills with their Russian allies in the East China Sea.

China has no legal basis for claiming it owns huge parts of the South China Sea, The Hague rules… but Beijing says it rejects the decision
Judges at The Hague also found the country had aggravated the seething regional dispute and violated the Philippines' maritime rights

It also found that China had interfered with Philippine petroleum exploration at Reed Bank, tried to stop fishing by Philippine vessels within the country’s exclusive economic zone and failed to prevent Chinese fishermen from fishing within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone at Mischief Reef and Second Thomas Shoal.

Searchforsome1: But you are saying exactly what you are denying.

I have no clue what you mean. I have always maintained there is fault on both sides.

Searchforsome1: Well, are you really up to date with the news? The majority of terrorist incidents came from well-settled people. They have come to colonize you and send you back to the middle ages. Yeah I am, pretty much. We were talking about refugees and 11 million people being displaced.

Well, its easy to sit there and try to research the difference between a regime and islamic terrorism and turning a blind eye to people being slaughtered over there because they are not muslim?

You honestly think Saddam was doing what he did because of religion ? I don’t, it was just a tool he used for control and greed. imo

Searchforsome1: Please, do read the facts on the ground. Its not as simple as that. It is because this community does not respect the law of the land. They respect only Islam and sharia. Why do you assume I don’t read facts ?
Will address the rest later.

SearchforSome1: Dude, live in the present. What is causing trouble now? And how much do you know about Islam and Christianity? Christianity is self-regulatory in a lot of aspects, it discourages violence. The better thing about it is that most of the major branches of christianity have an apex authority-the pope, the archbishop of canterbury, the various patriarchs, the salvation army hqs etc. Now, by and large, most of the followers of these sects follow the diktats of this authority, and their interpretations. The good thing about this is that the apex authority, if it initiates reforms(the vatican councils for example), the church as a whole is bound to follow them.
Now, lets look at islam. There is no manner of effective central authority to control these people. You can see someone issuing a fatwa to kill someone, and someone doing just the opposite. How will you initiate reformation in the first place when you have no authority to enforce it?
Christianity was not born as a political force, but islam was made up as a political force to unite the fighting tribals, which continues to this day to be one. Now you may argue saying that there are christian countries, but look a little beyond that. They do not have the kind of brutal ideological backing that islam has. Islam is a political cult born out of war. Look at the tenets of islam.
1. Murder of 'infidels', lying to them to get the better of them (keep saying it a religion of peace while you kill them)-plain war tactic-the same plausible deniability mode that you see with politicians.
2. Convert them to islam, or force them to pay jizya tax (usually a huge unaffordable amount)- converting them to similar ideology, or create a condition that forces them to, and thereby subjugate them.

So basically you haven’t answered my question, in any way shape or form, thanks. It’s post #678 if you wish to or if you wish to avoid it that’s fine too. I didn’t ask about guilt or atonement, I asked about fault.
IS is an enemy of the World and they kill far more believers in Islam than they do any other religion. To know your enemy, one must study them and IS came from an illegal invasion of a country by George W and his cronies who continually justified their actions in God’s name. IS came from this and it’s absolutely no surprise to me that they are fighting back in the way they know how.

You seem to assume a lot in what you say here.
I don’t take all of their guilt on me, I doubt some of them even feel guilt tbh.
I don’t think anyone has suggested that anyone allows anyone to come and kill them laugh

You seem to think Islam is this great evil, I don’t. I think a lot of their customs are archaic and abhorrent. Religion has never killed anyone, people do. People have used religion for ions in their own twisted way.
You mentioned earlier about Sharia Law and Islam being all they respect, I disagree.
I live in a country that has more immigrants from the EU than the UK per head of population, which includes a fair amount of muslims.. In my community there is a refugee centre and both the refugees and the immigrants add so much to my community while obeying the Law of the Land.
I do believe most Muslims are peace loving human beings who just want to live in peace. Life is hard enough.

There are 1 million people in the UK using soup kitchens.
I believe there are 40 odd million in the US on food stamps.
I wish Western countries would actually look inwards.

I see interference in the ME as one of the main causes of what is going on in Europe. If one keeps killing people, one is going to produce more radical enemies. I wish those war mongering countries would do more to address the obvious problems they have at home instead of bring their form of democracy to a country near you soon, while at the same time propping up other despicable countries who happen to sell them cheap oil.
