Limun: I was kinda wondering about all those forgiving people ...
lets say you have a good friend or relative , who`s found himself ,or herself in distress and need your help
a sleepover ,shower ,dinner and a hug
next morning you see the friend ,relative is gone along with your jewelry ,money,phone car ...would you call the police or forgive and forget ?
they werent a real friend in the first place then ? just took advantage of your kindness ....I wouldnt forgive or forgetlets say you have a good friend or relative , who`s found himself ,or herself in distress and need your help

I have one true friend that I would trust with everything I own and who has slept over on occasion and I have really nothing they would steal from me so I guess your post wouldn't apply to me.

It depends, Boban. For the jewellery which had sentimental value, I would call the police in a bid to get it back.
Otherwise, it's only stuff and nothing of great value.
Maybe on a practical, or emotional value they might need the stuff more than me.
The real transgression is the breach of trust and that's the bit which does harm and would require forgiveness.
As for forgetting, that would be foolish, not to mention impossible: I can remember your first posts on this site.

LucyMaud: Call the cops first. Forgiveness would come much later once I got over the anger. It's important to forgive for our own sake and just as important not to forget.

I am too lazy for revenge. Don't know whether forgetting is the same as forgiveness, but I really easy to forget.
When I feel under attack, I step aside and say, even if only to myself: "It's not my bullet". Staying indifferent prevents hurting and makes revenge unnecessary.
