If we are in a computer-generated reality, what reality is it within? Under Occam's Razor there's no reason to believe this. That we don't understand the reality we ARE in goes without saying. There's lots of stupidity out there--traditional superstitions as well as Max Tegmark.

Well...every body has their own understanding...and also their own perception of the world we live in.

daniela777: Common examples:
- The addictiveness of computer games (zombies)
- The Popularity of fantasy films
- The acceptance of leaders - political, religious etc. (mind control)
- How gullible people have become regarding advertising.
Feel free to add....
We are self-named "homosapiens" (thinking man). Are we developing into "homo zombie?

We are Not in a computer simulated reality: Then we would not have enquiring minds, and question the tiniest little thing, although most people don't anyway. We are on a real Earth, in a parallel Universe!!!
It's easier to just absorb anything that is served to you on a plate... People prefer the un-reality of any kind and voluntarily as well... Subconscious mind rules you, the habit, the norm, the patterns... The Un-Reality is for the weak and there is your answer...the human being is getting weaker because it's easier...

Yes..we are REAL people born on REAL earth..but in a computer game and we decided to play the game until we win and find the way out... Then we won't come back here...voilà
Would you care to elaborate ? I haven't heard of the film.?
hiya d
hmm..... it's a fairly recent movie, so i don't want to be the one posting spoilers....
from imdb plot description:
Storyline
Baker Dill (Matthew McConaughey) is a fishing boat captain leading tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, however, when his ex-wife Karen (Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a desperate plea for help. She begs Dill to save her - and their young son - from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke) by taking him out to sea on a fishing excursion, only to throw him to the sharks and leave him for dead. Karen's appearance thrusts Dill back into a life he'd tried to forget, and as he struggles between right and wrong, his world is plunged into a new reality that may not be all that it seems.
if you think you are unlikely to see it, let me know, and i will private mail you with the spoilers...(grin)

Hello Pk..
Yes...many people just absorb and accept what they're being shown or told without even researching and come to their own truth.
However...once we become aware and knowledgeable...we can take steps and get out instead of being controlled.

Ok thanks Jono. If it's a recent film I'm unlikely to see it here on TV.

Hi Dani Unfortunately people use only about 5% of their conscious mind, that means it's extremely easy to accept any kind of outside information straight away... I am not hopeful to think many have a chance in playing successfully this "game"...
