A few hours ago, I was in the supermarket, before going there, I checked to see if I still had money on my account, as for the past few days, I've been spending and shifting money from 1 account to another. So far, so good, yes, there more than enough to cover my shopping. When I tried to pay, it was denied, I tried 2 times with the same cashier, then once each with 2 others, nope…..rejected. I went to the nearby bancomat....rejected, so I'm calling my bank, to find out what's wrong, but I'm number 108 in the queue.
Earlier, when I was at the 3rd cashier, a woman asked me what had happened and said that she once had the same problem, when I came back to the store, she was still there. To my great surprise, she offered to pay for my groceries, if I would, send her back the money over the phone pay system. Tears welled up in my eyes, such a random act of kindness is seldon shown these days. We're both strangers, but true to her word, she told the cashier that she would pay for my groceries. We hugged, I thanked her a few more times and we exchanged phone numbers, so that I could send her the money after I had talked to my bank.
When I finally got through to my bank, I was told that they had blocked my account (without informing me), because yesterday I made 2 phone payments, and they thought 1 of them was a scam, so I'd have to wait until monday, when I would get a new card. I called up the woman, told her what had happened, offered to meet her downtown tomorrow and pay her back in cash (I always keep abit of cash at home), she said it's ok, she'll wait until monday.
I was on my way home from a job interview, when I decided to go shopping, the person who interviewed me, said that it was a very good interview, but there was another person coming afterwards to interview for the same job. I take what happened in the supermarket as a good sign that I'll be successful in getting the job, but more importantly, I'm happy that a random stranger trusted me enough to pay for me groceries. My faith in humanity is somewhat restored.

Have had almost the same in the uk, I wasn't very familiar with travelling to other countries in the past and my bankcard was only permitted in the Netherlands. A helpful man from London I met in the youthhostell where I was staying lended me money and payed my bill for the hostell. Of course I payed him back as soon as possible.
But with all the fugitives and east european people coming to us it becomes harder to trust people. Those people bring a lot of crimes with them, it's sad but true. Not that local people are always trustworthy, in the small village where I live there live's a guy who steals phones, cigarettes etc. in the pub as soon as you ain't aware of your stuff, he also has stolen many bikes, and lately I heard he's now trying to pickpocket his own friends. One day he'll meat the wrong guy, I guess, and maybe even hope so. Then he can think about his behaviour in the hospital.
And then there’s their kids who have lived in the country all their life. They end up stabbing people a lot. Their parents gratitude isn’t passed on to the next generation and I feel that white liberals might be a reason for that.
Sometimes the card reader just gets "funny". This happened to me at Walgreens. It would have been nice of them to call and tell you they blocked you without you having to call them after being rejected.

menu11: If you cant find your account card forget it I am the same way.
I had my account card, it's just that the bank thought a payment that I had made over the phone was a "scam", so they blocked my card. Here we can pay bills, transfer money and even shop with our mobile phones using a system called "Swish", so the bank thought one of those payments was not "legal".
