suppressing is different to getting rid of things, close the door.
I have seen many a counsellor getting folk to live through a trauma to help them get over, it. Even when it was a child trauma, it does not work, that person just lived through it all over.
I think teaching someone to come to terms with their feelings in the here and now is a better ploy,

I used to have a counselor over 10 years ago and her boss thought that there were other people who needed her more than I did so they let me go. She told me to do one thing.... Join a singles site online.... Well here I am!!!------ This thread is Archived ------

What we officially want is not necessarily, or even very often, the thing that makes us happy. Being a mystery to ourselves I expect there's quite a lot we don't, who we really are takes us by surprise even someone who lives spontaneously and reflects about it afterwards will never know thyself completely.777
