Please watch all of the video. It is the only way you will understand the subject of the headline.

This made me sick to my stomach to the point that my body is quivering.

Former Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ is well known for torturing inmates. Apparently his standard of how Correction Officers should treat mental illness patients is still happening.

This is not Guantanamo. This is a county jail !!

This woman cannot be released to the public. She should be in a legal mental institution for medication and proper treatment for someone who is gravely ill.

What would you do if this was your daughter?

If my daughter was as mentally handicapped as this woman is I'd rather she be dead than go through this torture.

sigh

I can't watch the video. Would too upsetting. Too close to home.
Unfortunately when mental health patients don't get the treatment they need they sometimes end up doing something wreckless and end up getting arrested and locked up in the mental health wing of a prison. blues

There is no excuse for inhumane treatment at any time blues

I really feel for this person. This retrained woman should Be cared for in a different mental health professional setting. I doubt any of these correction officers enjoyed being involved.

I fault the mother not the correctional officers. As knowledgeable as the retrained woman’s mother is of her daughter’s mental issues, I would think her condition didn't happen overnight. It doesn't appear the mother addressed this before. Otherwise, she would have called the mental health authorities to help.

The thing i dislike how this video is presented is the music used for effect.

Your concern is the music. doh

Not that her legs are spreadeagled
Not that her hand was turning blue from handcuffs
Not that her arms are above her head causing pain to her shoulders
Not that all those men stayed in the room while she used the toilet
Not that the obese officer was leaning on her leg while the other officer tightened the leg cuff

You dislike the music frustrated

What kind of music should they have used?

No music? I'd be fine with that because the music doesn't define the torture she is going through. The video is self-explanatory.

So now that we agree music wasn't necessary, what is your opinion of how these officers treated this 19 year old girl who has severe mental illness?

You may of heard of this experiment, regardless of one's take on it. It points out the danger of a group's behavior when they establish there own standards and regulation.
